Really, I hope you're on the next hi-jacked airliner. Maybe you'll see how their disagreement with us is the end of the world for some people.

Freedom of religion/expression, and all.

the guy building the mosque is using saudi money and supports the 9/11 bombings.

I dont have any links or anything, but i listened to it on a radio show.

My stance on it is that they should be allowed to do it, it is a freedom, but every sane person should spit in their face, step on their feet and never hold the door for them ever.

while I don't really protest it, I mean it IS a free country, I think they're being jerks about it.

I blame the Government/City of New York for not turning that place into a memorial like 5 years ago.

There are way too many unreferenced pronouns in this thread now.

Freedom of religion/expression, and all.

Does this mean that since we blow up a lot of innocent people in Iraq, Muslims in this country should burn Bibles (or, better yet, the Constitution) in protest? When does this cycle end?

Intentionally pissing off something like 1/3 of the world's population isn't a very good idea and is what caused 9/11 to happen in the first place. If you don't think that American foreign policy didn't have a direct hand in causing 9/11, then you're high on PCP. I mean hell, didn't Petraeus (sp?) come out a couple days ago and flat out said that if people burn Korans that it'll get American troops killed?

What really makes me laugh at this whole situation is this:
My Government's Laws Shouldn't Apply to Brown People wrote:
so sick of the government being such pansies against islam

All conservatives do is bitch about how huge and powerful the government is. However, as soon as people you don't like do something you don't do, you're all of a sudden on the government's back screaming about how they refuse to take action. These people bought the property and they can do whatever the fuck they want to do with it. Hell, let's even take a page out of Eturnal "If They Aren't White, They're Out to Get Me" Shift's manual of paranoia, they could make a 50 foot tall golden statue of Osama if they wanted to.

Are you mouthbreathers seriously proposing giving the government power to tell people what they can do on their land?

Also, the Catholic church refused to help Jews (and maybe even helped funnel Nazis to South America) during WWII and I bet there's a Catholic Church four blocks away from a bagel shop or some shit. Where's your whole "sacred ground" bullshit then? What about Catholic churches near playgrounds or worse yet, catholic schools? If we're going to make sweeping generalizations that since a couple muslims flew a plane into a building, they're all out to kill us, the institutionalized hiding and squelching child molestation charges in Catholic Churches makes every catholic a pedophile.

Oh wait, we can't do that, because catholics have rights in America, because they're:
1) Christian
2) White

I'm also changing the name of this thread to better grasp the topic.

Our government has this power and we're infinitely more 'liberal' (by that i mean communist etc) than you guys will ever be.

Yes, it is perfectly legal to protest/demonstate/do whatever as long as it doesn't endanger other people. As long as it is legal, people can do whatever the fuck they want.

We are at war. American troops will get killed. If the people fighting America over in afgan-town are paying attention to anything, it's warfare related, not what the fuck-knuckles at fox news are spewing.

I bitch when the government is X size and does NOT handle X responsibilities. I think it's too big, sure, but there's nothing to be done about that, so at the very least it needs to chew what it bites off.

No, no one is proposing that.

Ok, the mosque is a dick move, sure. But it's totally legal. No TRUE american can bitch about it's legality, just its etiquette and classiness.

Catholics in America are second-class Christians, at best.

I think USD is being perfectly reasonable here, and I mean that sincerely. Let's not get unnecessarily uppity.
