Blacks overwhelmingly vote Democratic. Does this mean the Democratic party is racist towards Whites because upwards of 90% of blacks vote Democrat? Does this mean you're a racist because you didn't vote for the White guy? (assuming you voted for Obama, that is.)


The KKK or StormFront provide Whites with a platform and, I'm sure, funding. You called them racist. Does the NAACP not do the same thing? The NAACP and their representatives jump on any instance where there may be racism. Remember the Duke LaCrosse players and how the NAACP was quick to defend that whore, saying the White guys raped her... and how it was a hate crime? Remember how the NAACP called the Tea Partiers racist for gathering and protesting - the same thing the Black communities have done countless times before? What about Rev. Sharpton saying, "This is our day", when Glenn Beck had his rally in Washington. For you to say one group is racist and the other isn't is sick... then again, I am talking to a card carrying member of the ACLU.

I'm not racist. I'm prejudiced.

I think it's more than a little retarded that blacks (inc huge generalization) constantly drop fag-bombs like it's okay, but naturally only they're allowed to say "nigger" casually. Yes, I know it's not socially acceptable to hate you because you're black, and I don't. But just because you were victimized fifty fucking years ago (by which I mean maybe your fucking grandfather was, you don't know a goddamn thing about the fight for equal rights) doesn't mean you can turn around and do the same to gays.

Is it okay for blacks to use the word nigger while other races should not? It sure is. Is it okay for homosexuals to call each other faggots while others should not? It sure is. I used to vigorously oppose this position. It took a lot of thinking and interaction with black and gay friends and co-workers for me to truly figure this out. I always thought the first step in getting others to stop using epithets was for the targets to stop using them (and I still believe they should stop but not because it will influence others), but this won't change anything. People of different colors, sexuality, religions, whatever, who use these terms do so with the INTENT to offend or degrade or from ignorance, upbringing or negative personal experience. For me, intent changes everything.


Look at this statement:

"Damn. That outfit makes your ass look HUGE!"

Think of the difference if a girl is told this by her sister or by some guy at a club. It's okay for Sis to say it, but the guy at the club might be singing soprano for a few days. Both of them might piss her off, but the difference is apparent. The relationships and intent change everything.


So, yes, while it may still be offensive/distasteful to some, it's okay for people to use disparaging terms in reference to themselves, but it's not okay for YOU (whatever you are) to call THEM (anyone different) those things.

I don't see it. If I converted to Judaism (a tricky proposition, as I wouldn't be recognized by the hardliners anyway), I doubt I'd be greeted with smiles and fist pounds when I started addressing my new brothers in religion as kikes.

EDIT: My stance on this issue is well documented on this site, but let me just say that I throw around the words "nigger" and "faggot" with my friends all the time and hold no contempt for black or gay people. I do, however, hate niggers and faggots.

My mom always says - "Nigger is an attitude, not a color."

I didn't know what that meant for the longest time, I always went "But nigger is a derogatory term for black people."

But I'm still not sure if it's referring to something like a comparison of Morgan Freeman to any rapper, or if it's referring to how 'nigger' is supposed to me "any lazy person".

Spend any amount of time around black people and you'll know the difference. My high school was majorly ghetto, bussed in kids from downtown etc, so I've seen both.

As for who can use the word, arguing they should be able to but not anyone else is dumb. It's a derogatory word no matter who the hell it comes from, plus there wasn't a single black kid that I knew who used it at all. The only thing anyone said was nigga, which as dumb as it sounds is entirely different in some bizarre way.
