If its anything like alcohol, you can make all of it you want and keep it for yourself/send it as gifts, but the second you start selling it the police can knock down your door.

They do because they have to pander for reelection from idiots.

See point A. Also, idiots will elect idiots.

Duh.

Also, weed is illegal because brown people liked it, just like every other drug.

EDIT: You literally cannot call yourself a small-government conservative if you're pro-prohibition.

I still can't believe prohibition ever happened. It's one of those things i look back on and go "REALLY?".

Prohibition is what happens when you let social conservatives run a country. They'd rather see the country crash and burn and then pray to an invisible friend than approach problems rationally and reasonably.

I wasn't aware religion had anything to do with pot, but then I'm not southern baptist.

Pot should have been legal decades ago.

Some side notes though:

Even if California makes pot legal, the federal government still recognizes it as an illegal drug. Walmart used this as a reason to fire an employee who submitted a failing drug test despite being a registered user of medicinal marijuana (case is still ongoing as far as I know). Apparently the feds aren't going to get in the way of medicial marijuana if a state approves it, but that's different from federal intervention if pot is legal for everyone.

In regards to homebrewing, while it's up to individual states, most states limit the amount you can make to 1-200 gallons a year.

The prohibition of alcohol was championed by extreme fundamentalists. Same thing with prostitution and abortions. Not to mention I think you'll be hard-pressed to find someone who's a christian extremist and advocates weed.

That's what miseducation will do for the masses, teach the conservatives that conservatism isn't about small government or liberty- and you have mass idiot mob rule democracy. Who they pray to will have no effect on anyone's rights when a limited federal government and pro-liberty philosophy is put into action (if you can get them all to stick to it). I disagree with the they'd rather see the country crash, moreso with they simply are that poorly educated. (Can't rely on mass media to educate correctly either). Internet ftw, luckily.

/hoping/ California wakes up conservatives to their pro-liberty past, there's so much that can be agreed upon both political sides when it comes to personal liberty and non-intrusive government...good things could start happening. fucking fingers are crossed

Its not like they want to see the country crash, just that the implementation of such idiotic and broad ideas such as the illegalization of many recreational substances can cost billions, if not trillions, of dollars.

Imagine if some Christian radicals got their way and made masturbation illegal. They don't want people to lose their jobs or governments (EDIT: I'm talking about the destruction of the multi-billion dollar sextoy and porn business, by the way) to lose massive tax incomes, they just want some sort of blanket statement to be enforced. I mean, if they're so willingly to subscribe to organized religion, they don't have the mental capacity to forsee what their stances would do to the economy.

Too bad it will never happen. Even though I'm a die-hard progressive, I honestly think a fiscally conservative BUT morally liberal third party (which the tea party is NOT, by the way) party would win every election forever in this country.
