Look, it just means we're all gonna have to get used to circle jerking.

FIXT

Anyone who is even mildly informed about the history of prohibitionist movements in this country knows that they were predominantly female. In fact, prohibition votes never passed anywhere until after our idiot male ancestors fucked up and gave women the right to vote (a move that started the slow decline of our nation, IMO). All that followed out of prohibition of alcohol followed out of prohibition of other substances: increased usage/interest, organized crime, and corruption of government officials.

Cannabis regulation only became an issue because of the relation between the drug and hemp, which directly competed with powerful financial interests like pulp and logging industries...and this mainly because William Randolph Hearst ran a smear campaign against the drug as a cheap shot at hemp because he was heavily invested in timber. In fact, the term marijuana was introduced by Hearst as a means of tying the drug to Mexicans (we used to be a fairly racist lot, if you'll recall).

Let us not forget that the Irish around the time of prohibition were for the most part strict Catholics, and not a one of them had an issue with being rotten drunks...as were a lot of Southerners. Don't confuse dumb bitches with nutty zealots, bro.

Prop 19 will not survive a constitutional challenge.

Good thing a man took care of that problem, eh?

Edit: How wouldn't Prop 19 survive a constitutional challenge?

The FBI will say it violates the supremacy clause, and they'll win because they're right.

EDIT: I remain convinced the CIA killed JFK because they didn't like the direction he was leading the country.

Yar. There's a measure on the Washington State ballot that also seeks to legalize weed, but the (I believe) US Attorney's office in conjunction with the DEA said that if it passed, they'd require federal agencies to crack down in Washington as a lesson as well as suing to bring the matter to federal courts.

Not like Washington really needs pot officially legalized, you can buy if on fu*king craig's list.

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-lopez-column-marijuana-20101017,0,1799548,full.column

Quote:
With Proposition 19 on the ballot, which would legalize marijuana in the state, Trutanich was worried. There wasn't much data, he said, about the effects of marijuana on driving impairment. Recently, there'd been news of a study that suggested driving under the influence of alcohol is more dangerous than driving while high. Trutanich wanted to conduct his own research.

Do you like where this is going?

I know I did.

Would I be willing, Trutanich asked, to go to the police training center with him, smoke some reefer, and see how I did behind the wheel?

Before Trutanich completed a sentence, I interrupted: "I'm in."

I believe the response should've been "FOR SCIENCE!"

In the JFK movie, at the end, when they discuss it with the washington monument framed in the background, they say something along the lines of questioning who else could've pulled it off.

The answer lies within that shot.

Alcohol is legal and its very illegal to drive when youve been drinking.

that shouldn't have any effect on the legality of weed, just the legality of driving when high.

The premise is simple. If you're allowed to purchase something that impairs your ability to drive, and you have laws against the act of driving while intoxicated, why is this drug illegal?

This brings this into play:

Hopped on magic pills that you're a slave to, or slightly stoned?

I'll share the road with stoners anyday.
