Regarding the homosexual behavior being "against nature," just which nature you are referring to? The "biblical" idea of nature or the biological world? Cultures throughout history have had homosexuals and, much of the time, it was an accepted practice. It would change within a society once a new religion told them it was wrong. In China, the seeds were sown with Confucianism. In the Mediterranean, it was the emergence of the Abrahamic religions. It comes down to religious beliefs rather than scientific ones.

However, this isn't to say that cows can actually give consent (considering they're barely sentient). If cows enjoyed sex and enjoyed it with a human, I don't see anything that could make the act of bestiality illegal. If you want laws that are made purely because you disagree with the act, I'm pretty sure there are a gaggle of middle eastern countries that would love to have you.

Assuming that the everyone involved (including the animals) both enjoy and give consent to the sex, can you give me a reason as to why it should be illegal?

For both species these explanations are basically guesses, and we almost never actually know why a given trait evolved, or if it even evolved for a reason.



You misread the description. The "prevailing view" you mention is not that these behaviours don't occur, but that they are mistakes or not actually sexual in nature. Since you were looking for evidence that the behaviour occurs and not the motivation (which we cannot really know), I think the existence of a book that documents such behaviours in hundreds of species answers your question.
