80 mph no big deal imo

Verily, I have often laughed at weaklings who thought themselves proud because they had no claws.

No big deal for the guy who most likely lives in a real house. Those people live in little make-shift (oh, sup me?) tents or tiny shacks. Any real structure has been weakened or reduced to rubble because of the earth quake. I'm sure excessive winds and a ton of rain isn't any concern what-so-ever.

in the meantime, haiti's not doing well. the american attention span is that of a gnat. what else is new?

Was haiti ever doing "well"? I mean come on, people flee from that country in rubber rafts trying to make it to Miami. Wait, what were we talking about?

You see what I did there.

It never ceases to amaze me how, given how much people bitch when we interject ourselves into things not our business, everyone expects us to go running off to solve problems in other countries, and further complain that we're not doing enough or doing it fast enough.

We have plenty of charities in this country that are or have been helping out. I don't think we need to toss tax dollars at Haiti when we're in debt up to our eyeballs and spending like a sailor on shore leave.

I'm sure God is a concept you've come across in passing, regardless of your opinions on how valid a concept he is.

The problems with Haiti have more to do with man than with deities, though.

In the meantime, they've diddled with a plethora of energies they shouldn't have. Consider the majority of the nation practices a unique blend of the pagan side of catholicism and voodoo.

But there's a silver lining!

Rebuilding not started in 8.5 months by that point.

And there's that storm.
