Men don't cry. Period.

I saw my dad cry for the first time in my life a couple of months ago. He is an ex-recon guy and not one to cry. But, my uncle died with all of us there, a couple of hours before my Dad's birthday. I'm pretty sure it still makes him a man. :)

The only time I can see my self crying is if someone really close to me died which pretty much includes my dogs.

I wish I could cry, I just can't. My great grandmother just passed away and I was fairly close to her but nothing. Maybe one day something will set it off.

The last time I cried, I'd made a grilled sandwich on the George Foreman using the last of the sour dough... provolone, thin slices of granny smith apple, and crispy bacon... mmmm. My sandwich found its way to the floor, somehow, where the dog took a quick taste before I could implement the 5-second rule. If you aren't tearing up just reading this, you clearly need psychiatric evaluation.

Seriously, though: Real men don't give two shits what anyone thinks about them crying.

This man speaks the truth. I probably cried for a good 2 hours straight when my mom died from cancer. Who knows how many times after. When my first fiance was killed by a drunk driver 4 months later I thought for sure i would come un-glued. Crying honestly helps.

just my opinion.

I can remember crying twice in the last 20 years.

1. My youngest daughter was very sice a few years back. Sick to the point of having lost about 7 pounds, and she only weighed about 38 pounds to begin with (she is five now so this was when she was around 3). She would not eat or sleep and spent all night crying. After a trip to the E.R. and the subsequent week in the hospital we discovered that she had a massive sinus infection and was also having a type of seizures. The hospital was great and kept us informed all along the way. The doctor on call came in about 9 one night to let us know she could go home once she ate a meal just so they could monitor and make sure she was keeping food down. She looked up at me with her big brown eyes and asked me for a happy meal. I lost it, I was so happy that we knew what was wrong and she was ready to eat some food. I held her in my arms for a solid ten minutes balling my eyes out when she pulled her head back to remind me she wanted Dr. Pepper with her nuggets. I had to laugh, they hurry my ass to McDonalds.

2. When my boxer, Duke, died. Duke was my dog. My brothers claimed him as theirs, but he was my birthday present. Duke was a brendle boxer (dark brown with black stripes) that was part of our family from elementary school well into adulthood. He was big, strong, and goofy as hell. The dog was by my side during the best and worst times of my teens and early 20s. When my first daughter was born he took on the role of her protector. She would wobble around my mothers house and Duke would follow her around, standing in her way if she tried to get into something and laying at her feet when she would play or lay down for a nap. She would pull, jump, and even ride around this 100lb dog and he enjoyed every moment of it. The night i got the call at 3 am that he had died I burried my head in the pillow and cried my eyes out. My wife somehow knew what it was even without asking. He is burried in my moms yard. She used an antique cedar chest as a coffin that she was refinishing and my brothers and step-dad burried him in the middle of the night. We explained to my daughter what happend and even though she was sad she understood why he was gone. Consequently the only time I had seen one of my brothers cry as an adult was when she asked him to take her to where Duke was burried so she could say goodbye. Amazingly my moms other dog, who usually ignored my daughter began to follow her around and watch after her. This dog passed away several years later and my mother had her burried beside the other, also in a cedar chest. This was one of a handful of times I have ever seen my mother cry, that was her dog, even if we claimed her to be ours.

My family is not one to cry, we dont show emotions very much. Not because crying is for pussies, or because we have to be macho, its just the way we are. There really is no way to explain it.

I cried at the end of The Little Mermaid in 1989!

Wait, I don't have a penis, carry on.

"Movies that Make Men Cry"

At the end of Field of Dreams, when Kevin Costner says "Hey dad, wanna have a catch?"

THAT makes me cry. Seriously, if you are a man and that doesn't get to you, you must not have a heart, or a father.
