Keith Olberman is annoying because he's so angry. I also feel like his writers need to burn their thesaurusssuses (lolwat?) because he always gets into these long winded diatribes filled with big words and adjectives as if it makes him sound smart.

As much as I could give two shits and a fuck about Olberman, WTF is the deal with "suspending" him? I'm sure there are lots of other dillholes in NBC's news division who are/have been doing the same. Hell, he even gave money to candidates from both parties. It's not like he's a journalist, he's a (really sorry excuse for a) pundit.

I think this is just the pretense they're going to use to can him. Much like everything else on MSNBC, no one watches his show. This will be the loophole they'll thread to break his contract and get rid of his dumb ass. I think this will be the start of a trend over there, since the head of the news division said something about not being a "liberal network" in their press release about the suspension. They get terrible ratings, and after the election and the conservative sweep, I wouldn be surprised if this isn't some kind of business decision to move the network to the center and try to reap some of that Foxnews money.

I put Glenn Beck on the same level as Olberman. They're both annoying, (feigned?) over-emotional circus acts. At least when Olberman does his shabby big top routine, he's not crying like a little bitch.

They were having a discussion about men crying one night on Red Eye, and Gutfeld said something about men not being able to cry on cue. Andy Levy responded with (paraphrase), "I don't know how you can work at Fox News and not believe a man can cry on cue." Priceless.

Jubber

I got a great laugh out of that, thanks.

If anything Olbermann is more like O'Reilly (sp?), considering Olbermann might yell a lot, but he's still functional in modern society.

...I don't think any of those people really function well in modern society. Bill O'Reilly is fucking ridiculous. I hate when people call him a conservative. He's a fucking populist. He does all these sensationalist reports on shit like child molesters...and who is in favor of child molesters? He doesn't take any controversial stances on anything based on any type of core beliefs. He just does the whole "this is bad, so I'm going to say it's bad" bit and plays to old people with his "this wasn't how shit was when I could get a BJ for a quarter" schtick.

Oh, and he's probably a sexual predator himself. Remember when that woman took him to court for sexually harassing her?

Olbermann is a blowhard and he is too prone to ridiculous hyperbole. Even though I might typically agree with his motivations and goals, I can't watch his show without rolling my eyes at his overdramatic presentation.

As for this, they are saying technically the problem is that he didn't first clear the donations with the network. That's kinda lame I suppose, but much like with NPR and Juan Williams, it's their station, he's their employee, and they can do what they wish for the most part.

But really, who cares. Right or left, cable news is crap. Rachel Maddow is probably the only one I can stand, and only because she a) doesn't put on airs of a fake neutrality, she openly admits she is a liberal and b) she is good about fact checking and correcting herself if she makes mistakes.

But even her show... sometimes it's good for editorials, but I just can't get myself to care about the topics most of the time. Not because they're stupid, but because they're purely politics, and not policy or anything more intellectual.

I don't really care what so and so candidate did or said yesterday. I care how votes in Congress go, what passes and doesn't, but I can't get myself to really give a shit about the horse race aspect of it.

That's a pretty solid way to look at politics. Knowing who won just gives you an idea of how those congressional votes are going to go, but it doesn't matter until it happens.

Unless you're in big business or whatever, and need to have your ear to the ground way ahead of time. The little guys, however, can wait around to find out.

EDIT: I find this especially amusing after the big stink raised about MSNBC having their pundits hosting the election results where as everyeone else had journalists, with anchors as analysts. It wasn't a big deal to me, but you know how the media thinks that everything the other media outlets do is a big deal.

I actually watched his show for a while, but slowly he started inviting on people like Peggy Noonan and other op-ed writers who are more interested in being clever than they are about being right.

I think after the third or so time I listened to her arguing against an actual historian, economist, or whatever, I just lost interest and stopped watching the show.

As much as I think it's none of my or anyone's business who he donates to, he broke his "agreement" with who pays him.

My empathy is limited tho because the politicians he donated to happened to be running against politicians he would absolutely smear on a weekly basis.

When you're that unethical and that much of an asshole simultaneously, you have it coming. He's funny at times, but other times he honestly give O'Reilly a run for his money.

My initial turnoff was when he presented a poor reenactment of a scene from great film "The Network".

What gave you the impression that he gave money to both parties? He gave money to 3 Democratic candidates...

I don't have an opinion on this one. I don't watch TV, so I don't listen to pundit crap.

I normally wouldn't care either, but it was his company's policy- and really is unethical to report news and bash candidates when you're donating to their opponents. I'm not really against the behavior (it's common on TV), but it's hard for me to feel bad for him heh

I heard the report wrong. Sounded like the Latino guy was running in a primary against a tea partier. Noticed later that wasn't the case.

I thought that this was a really interesting view on this situation.
