I agree with Mayo. Though to think about it, I don't believe that's such a rarity.

Honestly, it cuts down on clutter. I think we should have moved the goofy puppy video (which is like months behind, thank you, just because it popped up on Yahoo!s front page that day didn't mean it was shiny and fresh) to the "baby" thread where you weirdos were anthropomorphizing your pets into children.

The only detrimental thing that occurs is locking the thread.

The point isn't whether you understand why someone posted it in another thread. There might not even be a reason. The point is whether you can explain why they aren't allowed to.

Its mostly so we don't have 3 or 5 threads that are all the same thing. The mods and I have stickied certain threads with repeated content and for the most part, people post in it appropriately.

If people can't take the two brain cells to realize that there's already a specific thread for this kind of stuff (read: where 99.999% of everything just like your "unique and beautiful" youtube video goes), I don't see why its unreasonable for a light warning via locking the thread with instructions to simply repost in the sticky.

Its the only thing I ask of the community, really. Consolidate threads so people don't have to sift through 40 threads when they get off of work with 15 of them being the same subject.

EDIT: Maybe we have different views on the severity of locking a thread. I see it as a simple slap on the wrist, maybe you see it as more, idk.
