anyone who thought as soon as he was president the war would end immediately was delusional.

I'd say naive, at worst. I don't think he had given consideration of the issue the appropriate amount of time on the campaign trail, and there was the emotional appeal of "screw what this guy is doing" (funny how we keep having that as a campaign theme) mixed in with the usual liberal anti-war fervor. Once he was in office, the bluster died down, the emotions cooled, and clearer thinking prevailed.

I think that Obama, like most other democrats, isn't evil. The mistakes he's making are, for the most part, honest dumb mistakes that are based on what his core beliefs are.

edit: Moved to DC this year, some of the museums are outstanding, but memorials are sobering. Days like this hit a bit more than they used to.

When you hit E-6, sign up for independent duty and take a submarine billet. The only person on board that really fucks with you is the XO.

btw 89k troops is nothing compared to what it was.those troops are all non-combat related save for a small amount of security related forces (MPs).

the only troops left are medical assests, information gathering, and logistical. don't tell me i'm wrong because i was there and i fought the goddamn war.

I believe Rathmoon is a Marine. The Corpsman is a refence to the Marine Corps. I could be wrong though.And btw, my mom is a retired Navy Corpsman, and I have watched her save lives at car accidents and shit. The number of times we stopped on the side of the road to help someone at an accident before the ambulance got there is actually kind of startling.

Short note, one of our white trash neighbors in Va threw his gf out of a moving car and wound up running over her leg with the back tires. My mom set her leg so well she did not have to have major surgery to fix it. The doctor that saw the chick in the ER told her he could not have done a better job even if he was there when it happened. Corpsmen are serious business.
