I just feel like the most competitive teams will have consumables and gadgets readily available, and against other teams that are competitive it will come down to player skill anyway.
The casual teams will get rolled by competitive teams regardless of professions being enabled or not.
It's just shitty that the only viable things that engineering bring to the table (at least in pvp) are being totally disallowed.
Engineering is leagues ahead of every other profession for pvp, it would be required. I know there will always be best professions, but the difference between enchanting/blacksmithing/JC/Leather/etc isn't as great as the difference between engi and anything else.
Engi toys are the kind of things that could imbalance classes. Those extra stats isn't going to push a rogue or a warlock into op territory, but engi items could do that. They mess with balance in a way that can't be easily tweaked except by removing toys.
Why not buff those other professions instead?
Also, I had an idea for a sort of dualspec for professions.. Once you reach 2 maxed professions, you can unlock a dualspec for professions for a fee that grants you access to a 3rd profession, but you can only have use for 2 at a time.
This would not be strictly used for PvP, think about the PvErs that play a tank and a dps, or a healer and a dps...etc.
