Wtb thread split into "aestu's a jerk herp derp" and "lets talk about people killing themselves lol!"

Not that i care about either topic, but you know, consistency.

personally, i think all aestu posts should just be filtered into paragraphs from cormac mccarthy books
that way they'll be just as wordy, just as long and just as uninteresting

I'd like to see something coded so all his posts start:

Speaking as "the mount guy" I suppose I'm obligated to offer my opinion about {Topic Title}.

Speaking as 'The Mount Guy', I suppose I'm obligated to offer an anecdote. Funny story, when I posted that - as my comment in this thread here - I had no idea that people would make such a huge deal about it. I never for a moment hoped, dreamed, or even wanted people to forever identify me with what I at the time saw as one opinionated post amongst tens of thousands I've made and the tens of millions people make daily.

Frankly, I'm tired of hearing about that stupid post. I've said way stupider, and way more arrogant, things on the internet.

It boggles my mind to this day.

Yes, but none reinforced quite so succinctly the image that people already had of you.

Code:
if ($username = "aestu")
{
$message = '' & 'Speaking as "the mount guy" I suppose I'm obligated to offer my opinion about' & $subject;
}

something like that put in at around line 750 on posting.php
i perhaps got the syntax wrong (i dont know a lot about php) but the general logic is there

You could probably do it relatively easily with greasemonkey if you know about DOM/javascript

sadly, all of this is probably wasted effort since i doubt mayo has actual access to webhost to where he could edit files :<

Not really. When I went to Mal'ganis, people I never met kept bringing it up.

I think your syntax would overwrite the message variable. You'd want to use the . concatenation operator to put your string at the start of the message, then over-write message with your string, yes?

(I've never worked in PHP so I don't know if there is a function to handle this shit.)

This thread had derailed.

Let me sum up the above threads quickly: Suicide is hurtful to friends and family. Some say it is their fault for doing it and should stop whining. Some say that it is overall a "jerk" move to [interpret/analyze] someone's post in your own "self-rightous" fashion.

I have the following to say about the above: Lets get back to the topic, and please, for the sake of a constructive thread about to self-implode, please try not to analyze other people's feelings in the threads that had no overall contribution to the initial post.

If you read someone's post and begin to type something with specific regards to their feelings, then you are no more contributing to the original post than the person who showed emotional distress, even if misinterpreted.

Back on with the show.

Suicide is bad folks.

Dance around it all you want, but your first post in the thread was to call someone, who had found out that day their friend had committed suicide, an attention whore.

Thankfully she'd decided to avoid the thread so as to not have to subject herself to aestu being aestu, but I find it comical that you'd think a husband would let someone attack his spouse without calling the attacker out. Surely you're not so naive as to not have known what would occur after pressing submit. You yourself have gone to far greater lengths to merely defend your ego.

And I'm sorry, if I dispensed with the pleasantries at 4am, but after watching my wife spend hours going over all her past conversations and beating herself up for not seeing what was going to happen, hearing her swing between composing herself and crying uncontrollably, my patience for your circuitous name-calling bull has worn thin.

As I asked before, the decency is lacking so until an ignore feature becomes available, please keep our names out of your mouth and we'll do the same.

If that's how you feel move on and stop talking to me. You're corroborating my initial impression which was that the intent was passive-aggressive.
