Dance around it all you want, but your first post in the thread was to call someone, who had found out that day their friend had committed suicide, an attention whore.

Thankfully she'd decided to avoid the thread so as to not have to subject herself to aestu being aestu, but I find it comical that you'd think a husband would let someone attack his spouse without calling the attacker out. Surely you're not so naive as to not have known what would occur after pressing submit. You yourself have gone to far greater lengths to merely defend your ego.

And I'm sorry, if I dispensed with the pleasantries at 4am, but after watching my wife spend hours going over all her past conversations and beating herself up for not seeing what was going to happen, hearing her swing between composing herself and crying uncontrollably, my patience for your circuitous name-calling bull has worn thin.

As I asked before, the decency is lacking so until an ignore feature becomes available, please keep our names out of your mouth and we'll do the same.

Please agree with my post before yours and move on with it. There is a button at the Bucket Guild Forum Index which allows you the opportunity to create a new thread, possibly titled.... "LEZ FLAME AESTU" or something to that effect.

Also, sorry for your friend's loss.

Personally, I do not agree with it and would never go through with it but it would be a lie if I said I never had the impulse to believe that my problems would dissolve if I had actually suicided. Rationality prevents me from doing it because I remember the people I care about and how they would feel if I did it myself.

That being said, I still think that people should have the right to decide what they want for their life and had I been asked to share my feelings about suicide with your friend, then I would explain to them why it isn't the right decision to make for themselves from my standpoints and hope they would interpret my opinion and use it as their own. If after having heard my view points they decided to still want to do it, then they made a logical decision to kill themselves (from my view point) and there was nothing I could do to prevent them from thinking otherwise. I don't believe in or condone drug usage to alleviate one's mental or social problems. Even when going through medical surgeries, I, as best as I could, tried not to use medicine (particularly pain killers) as much as possible.

Which is unfortunate.

I've no sympathy for those that would intentionally take their own life for the reason that it's too hard. May you burn in your own private hell.

My condolences for the loss of a loved one, I know how it feels.

I'm going to exit this thread now and never return.

Deleting overflow (and subsequent rendered-substanceless posts)

My point about illegality was specifically that it seems silly to have it. Anyone at the breaking point has already set aside his own moral rules, so I doubt society's imposed rules will matter.

I also don't think (and I know this wasn't the question asked) that religion has a universal view of suicide. It's a bad thing in Christianity for reasons I used to know. It's so common (stereotypically) in Ancient Greece/Ancient Rome/pre-Imperialist Japan that I'd venture religion there approved or didn't care.

I kept the discussion of code because it wasn't a double post, nor was it discussion of a double post. I'm gonna stop breaking my own rules now.

My brother tried to kill himself when i was in high school. His girlfriend found him and called EMS. They saved him just in time for him to be a constant care patient for the next 12 years. Sadly in my eyes he died that day. I may have only set eyes on him 5 times over that 12 year period. What a selfish prick he turned out to be. Even more so in his final decision.

I cannot and will not ever try to figure out what makes people think this way. In the 4 people i knew who attempted or actually succeeded with suicide, NOT ONCE did the person actually make it known they were even feeling this way. In every case i had seen the person quite recently and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. No odd questions or statements.

I watched my mother die from cancer over a 12 month period. Driving her to the hospital for 6 of those months on a daily basis for treatment. Every day she fought to be alive. That is the kind of person I would rather spend my time knowing and caring about. Someone who would fight to the end to keep experiencing life.

Yeah I pretty much thought this was the case... thought I have never known anyone else, personally, who has attempted or succeeded in suicide. It would make sense for the most part that many people mask their feelings with regards to this.

I agree with this. In my mother's case, I didn't visit her daily because in the back of my head, I figured this was something she was going to get through, though I managed to visit her 2-3 days a week and towards the end of her own life, every day. Life is fucking wierd. People who fight to live, while battling an ailment, are worth my attention... takes real inner-strength to deal with that shit.
