To reiterate, the quote was from Wikipedia which was a quick synopsis of the book, whether quoted from me or another person, because this was an accurate description of the book.

Another person who didn't read the other posts where I corrected this later. Grats.

Ya'all can keep hating for something I've already corrected, twice now, and ya'all can keep hating for something that I believe in and the belief is changing as I learn a bit more about the way animals are slaughtered, but the truth is, none of you have really contributed much to this discussion other than Zaryi and Jubbergun at this stage.

Someone tell me you know exactly how your meat gets to your freezer / fridge / plate, in detail, and I'll listen up. Really, if re-posting a mistake I made on page 1 or 2 is the only thing that is left for you to keep talking about, despite the corrections that I have made since then... then really, you aren't much of a character in real life.

Stop lumping us in with people who beat captive animals for shits and giggles and you'll get a better response.

I never said you or anyone else actually beat captive animals. I merely responded to Mns' statements with regards to not caring about animals that are slaughtered, even in this manner, for the reasons (if that is what you could call it) that he provided.

I questioned him further because I wanted to understand his reasoning for such response to which I countered with questions regarding his emotional care for said animals to help myself better interpret the reason for his response.

You can't, which is the beauty of this forum.

In the meantime, animals have personalities that are impressed upon them by humans.

They serve various functions to the environment and to your metabolism. Yes, some of the methods are less than pleasant. What do you expect when you need to maximize your profit?

No, like I did a double post, don't know how to delete the 2nd post, though I think that is what you meant maybe. *shrug*

Impressed upong them? All animals know of fear and pain. There's tons of documentation about this, but if you want I can look them up and post here.

Yes, companies are seeking profit. That's the problem. Perhaps too much profit. I think I am just gonna revert back to a local farm or something to that effect that Zaryi was mentioning. I just can't, without knowledge of the situation at the slaughterhouse, rest well knowing food that I consume could also be paying for the people who perpetuate the growing issue at hand.

You seek human(e) treatment for animals when humans are treated like animals. When a human experiences fear or pain, they become more beastial. Your point is moot.

You could always become a farmer and do it all yourself, but a local farm would be easier.

Let me see if I understand you.

Are you talking fight vs flight with regards to being more "beastial" ?

Also, are you saying that my query / search to treat animals that are not human more humanely is moot because we ourselves are animals?

When you are living in fear or pain, what are you prone to do?

No, that people are inclined to believe we are nothing more than animals, equate animals to humans, and believe that this all just happened because someone left an runny egg sandwich on a beach somewhere whatever billion years ago.

It's amazing what they can get you to believe in.

This is about fight vs flight then. It can go both ways. In the case of animals, because of their lack of capabilities once they are born into the slaughtering business, they have no choice but to deal with the pain and fear. So they act cowardly, not only because of instinct, but also because of lack of option to act otherwise not to mention the age at which they have to deal with it (like a baby whining) and it is because of our hand they act thusly. In the case of humans, we believe we have more options at our disposal so we also can act both ways, cowardly if we lack the skills to escape the pain or fear, or heroically react to the pain and fear if we have the skills to fight it.

My question to you now is, what sets you apart from an animal? Both breathe the same air. Both attempt to fight for your own existence. Both attempt to sustain their lives in what ways they can. I know many people who feel the same way as you do, but it interests me to know what makes any of us better than another animal. Is it because of our ability to comprehend? Is it because of our ability to build structures and cars and airplanes? Is there some other reason? Btw, I really appreciate the honesty.

Truth is, I don't know what happened a billion years ago, but a chain of events led us to here and we may never know what it was that did, but to me, I feel all animals, even humans, should be treated equally (with regards to choice to living).

People who are sentenced to die by lethal injection are given better treatment than some of the animals we attempt to control for the sustainability of our species. What makes it more right to save a person who has done a heinous crime as opposed to an animal that has done nothing to cause harm.

I know this may seem really far fetched but this is really how I feel about animals as I believe we are also part of that category.

My point was made through your quoting of me. Thank you for not only proving my point, but for reading my post that time.
