There is a clause that you missed. Just because a post is directed at someone doesn't mean it applies.

Mine, for example, was of the utmost importance. It also wasn't a discussion, it was more of a monologue. And it divulge into anything because it only had one post.

But kidding aside, if I were a mod I would apply the rules when things got personally offensive, like someone was just being a complete dick to someone else. You know, when it actually might improve the board, instead of simply detracting from it.

I don't like locking offensive nonsense because the point was to say more or less what we wanted how we wanted and to whom we wanted. I don't like locking @posts that diverge into non-@ subject matter, because it's clear they're worth reading now. The thread in question would probably have benefited from a title change, though.

Mayo's mostly being this vigilant to avoid any FEVYN TROLL HORD horseshit. If there's collateral damage, just post again. The timer here's like 10 seconds instead of 60.

Most discussions here do one of three things:

1) Don't stay on point and evolve into something completely different
2) eventually devolve to the usual lockable content
3) Fall off the first page into never never land (increase the threads per page, dammit).

Chill on the trigger. Let it be. Besides, when this community gets tired of something, they make mocking threads. That usually drives the point home.
