Yes, this is how science works. Notice that nobody is accusing those they disagree with of belonging to global conspiracies to mislead the public, asserting that anything NASA publishes is corrupted because of the errors in this paper, or suggesting that problems in this paper discredit the entire field of microbiology. Instead they are suggesting alternative interpretations of the data and suggesting new experiments that would be better for testing the hypotheses in the original paper. Amazing how that works.
