I do like how being uncomfortable around fags makes you bigoted. That's pretty unfair.

It's a page from Mayo's playbook - If you don't like what the other side is saying (even if they agree with you to some degree) then you need to point fingers and insult them by calling them bigot/racist/xenophobe/homophobe, etc.

Being uncomfortable around gay people doesn't make you bigoted, arguing that they are genetic birth defects and incapable of serving in the military does.

it's the post-high school equivalent of the "hitler defense"

There are some Vietnam vets I know who would probably like to discuss with you how that statement isn't the least bit ironic.

You know, finding evidence that homosexuality is an inherent condition is so easy that I thought there would have been a huge link of articles by now. I didn't see that, but I did see a lot of 'well everybody knows,' which is funny since it's obvious that most of you just say that without apparently knowing how anybody knows. It's easier to call people LoLHomophobes (that has to be about the dumbest insult ever...it's really GAY).

Dvergar wrote:

If you're going to argue that the behavior is not only acceptable, but should be embraced, because the participant is driven to participate because of a congenital difference, the downside of that argument is that the majority of congenital differences are considered medically and socially undesirable and are corrected as much as possible, like Eternal's kid's freaky toes...because they're birth defects. Would you want your child to be born gay? Don't bother with the "I'd love them anyway" deflections, of course you'd love them anyway, their your child. Would you want them to be gay, though? Knowing the difficulties and stigma attached, I wouldn't.
If homosexuality is a congenital condition, what happens if they completely isolate the causal factors (so far, the only evidence for the argument that I've seen are minor physical variations) and find a way to reverse them? What happens then? Will parents turn their kids straight with a medical procedure the same way parents like Eternal lop off the extra toes? How many homosexual adults might opt for the procedure themselves?

If Mayo wants to jump on the "well, you argued about this before" bandwagon, maybe he should look back at some of the 'gay marriage' discussions we've had, where I argued that marriage is a religious institution and the government shouldn't be involved (in other words, I'm OK with gay marriage). I'm just not OK with this. Two adults consensually agreeing to an ostensibly life-long partnership is not the same as forcing people to share quarters with people who are sexually attracted to their gender. At least one of the parties is not consenting. You're arguing that we need to protect one person's rights by trampling all over someone else.

Our current precedent for this is that men and women (who in the main are attracted to each other sexually) do not share quarters and hygiene facilities. I see no reason to change the precedent, and those of you arguing to change it are only focusing on alleged benefit(s) without considering the potential consequences.

for me, it's not a matter of coping-out with "i'd love them anyways"
it's instead that i would not care
unless my kid was born with like, "heil hitler" tattood across it's chest, i wouldn't want them to change

the idea of being able to genetically-isolate a trait and change it i fear has far worse consequences than "ungaying" your child. by your logic, what makes you so sure they'd stop there? if you can change someone that easily, then what's to stop the powers-that-be from genetically modifying every kid to not have whatever causes dissent or distrust in power?
but back to your actual points: i think parents that disagree with homosexuality (you) would change it while parents who don't (me) wont. as far as adults changing it, it'll probably just be the religious folks who are already trying to pray the gay out of themselves so they don't burn in hell

everyone was too afraid to respond to Mikebro's post on page 4.

I live in the second gayest place in the country (Greenwich Village; which I gather is less gay than Castro Street in SF to which I've never been). I've never seen them do this supposed "crotch-groping" and other excessively flamboyant shit you're all on your high horses about. I've seen them make out with about the same frequency as straight couples, mostly late at night, and no more obtrusively. I commute to Newark during the day, where straight people generally act like shameless whores and pretty much are the reprehensible delinquents you're all so terrified 100% of gays are.

Do you idiots go to gay bars just so you can bitch about getting hit on by gays? Gays on the street going about their business are about as likely to hit on you/even attempt a conversation as anyone else, and that likelihood is about 0% because they don't fucking know you and it's not a social setting. What a surprise, they're just like everyone else.

(Also, the argument that homosexuality is an evolutionary dead-end is retarded. If a bunch of gay men and women are the last people on the planet, of course they'd reproduce for the sake of humanity. It's no different from you having to pork a hideous chick to save the species. Just because you're gay doesn't mean you're totally illogical)

Companies, amusement parks and cities don't have 'Straight Pride' days. Unfortunately, the Gay Parades take front-and-center and we all have to see it and hear about it. I hear about the Capital Pride parade every year. I see it on the news. My FB friends comment on it each year. They post their pictures. (Yes, the pictures are gay... very gay.) Just because you don't see it in whatever shithole New Jersey city you come from doesn't mean the rest of the country/world doesn't have to see and deal with it.

Gays don't get to vote? I missed that one.

Oh, and thanks for pointing out my DOUBLE-PAL, I will fix that.

You're referring to a phenomenon that extends to many areas in society nowadays. Those in the minority have "pride" or "celebrations" because the thought is that society celebrates people in the majority at all other times. See:

Women's history month
Black history month
etc. etc.

Yeah, and look how much closer all that hyphenated-Americanism has brought us.

Mayo would be blue in the face is these things existed, screaming about anyone who observes it is a bigoracixenohomophobe.

There have been six openly LGBT members in the history of Congress.

with there being 541 CURRENT congressmen, even if all six were currently in office, that would put "gay representation" at 1.1%
however, considering that "There are three openly gay members (Tammy Baldwin, D-WI; Barney Frank, D-MA; Jared Polis, D-CO.).", that puts it down to an actual 0.5% representation

so yes, it's the straight man's holiday
