I started HeartGold a week or two ago and I'm stuck at some point where some stupid tree is in the road and I have to squirt it with water. w/e

Oh, and I'm probably gunna start playing Black or White once I'm done. A buddy sent me the .nds rom that's in process of being translated. It looks sick, tho.

What age range would you say Pokemon is good to start with? I've got a couple of older kids (7-10 range) to buy for and I know they each have a DS and am wondering if Pokemon is a good idea. Do you think their parents will have fun with the game too?

Sorry for the relatively dumb question. I didn't have a handheld console growing up, so I am clueless on this stuff.

Pokemon has almost no story and all the dialog is dumbed down enough for small kids. The combat is RPS + RNG, where there is going to always be a counter for whatever pokemon you use... but it's easy enough to figure out.

My gripe is I wish, in combat, I had a way of getting a description of whatever attacks I have. I'm bad at remembering which status buffs/debuffs are applied and crap.

lol jk ilu. I remember I had a little manual when I was like 12, I just referenced it for every pokemon so I always knew their weakness (IE who to switch in and out).

I've never played the handheld games too much.

Played the shit out of stadium because it had what I wanted: the battles and nothing else.

It's amazing though that's pretty much how it goes with not just pokemon. I remember playing FF... I think it was 4, on my SP and was asked why I didn't get a good game in highschool.

In college I got a "Fucking love that game."
