Anyone here like Dylan (mostly"classic Dylan")?

I know his voice is kinda "rough"...but you cannot deny his song writing ability...and his lyrics. Just amazing. I've been on a real Dylan binge. The Freewheelin Bob Dylan, Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde...just incredible albums.

I watched a documentary about him made in 1967...pretty amazing stuff:

My favorite scene in it was where Dylan completely owns this guy in a folk off. He starts off by sarcastically making fun of him "hey that's a good song man!!":

One of the funniest things I ever heard about Bob Dylan came about one night in a dive shop in Fernandina Beach:

"Bob Dylan's been dead for about 35 years, but since nobody bothered to tell him, he just keeps moving around."

Explains why the vocals just continue to get progressively worse.

The first few albums were great. His Christian shit was pretty bad, though, and then after that the only good songs were the hits.

I saw it before I really knew much about Dylan. I also had a significant amount of THC in my blood, so I was confused often. I need to watch it again, sober.

Well it's kind of inherently confusing anyways, only because they have a different character (and actor) play different phases of his career, and they don't really outright explain that this is happening.

Freewheelin is one of my favorite albums of all time. Bob Dylan is a badass.

lol. In addition to having loads of songs be successful in their own right, he is also one of the most covered artists of all time. Chances are a few of the bands/musicians you do listen to have covered a Dylan song.

I've no doubt i probably know the words to many of his songs. But before writing that post if i was doing a quiz and it said "name 3 Bob Dylan songs" i would be making uneducated guesses and i'd be shocked if i got any right.

Yeah, that's actually not very surprising. Unless you were in on the folk music scene in '63 and '64, or on the folk rock scene in the later '60s... well, you probably know a lot of Dylan songs, but you might not know that any of them are his. To people who don't listen to that music specifically, there are a lot of his songs that are much more widely known for their cover versions.
