Mayo, can we also have new forms for Starcraft 2 and Old/Bad Musicians... because there two of one and three other the other on the main page and I just can't bring myself to ignore them when they get bumped omg.

I thought that was because there were only maybe 5 people who cared to post in those kinds of threads. Now the same 5 people are posting the same arguments in the same kinds of threads, except now they're in the main forum.

Whatever though not like I have any reason to read 99% of the threads here anyway.

I just think it makes more sense to have a separate subforum for serious argument threads. It discourages people from posting stupid stuff and then claiming "lol I was only joking". Seems like the people who are involved in an actual serious discussion would appreciate that too.

There are several differences to me.

1) Most religion and politics talks, not limited to this board, tend to be nothing more than narrow minded views and vitriolic ranting. They are not discussions, they are just people stating their beliefs. When a conflicting view comes along it's not "This has been intelligent discourse, after considering your views I agree/can see why you think xyz..." instead, it's "How do I show this guy his opinion is wrong" with no other consideration. The person will try to dissect even the most insignificant part of their post as a reason why their entire opinion is invalid.

2) In line with dissecting the most insignificant part of peoples posts, the threads go off on these crazy tangents that have nothing to do with the topic that people will start arguing about until the next tangent comes around. Go to page 1 and see what it's about, page 3 something totally different, page 5 WTF is going on.

3) They never end. Ever. I don't think there exists a thread of this manner that is less than 4 pages. If it's possible to sort by replies I would be quite confident that at least 75% of the first page would be these threads (excluding the threads that are never intended to end like the music/pics/other threads).

4) It's always the same circle jerk crew. Some people come in to the thread and post some stuff. Eternul and Jubber will come in, maybe Aestu too with different opinions. People will start dissecting and examining minor details out of each others posts going offtopic, Boredalt might come in and say something that everyone all agrees too. More arguing, someone with authority on the subject comes in and gives information on it, post disregarded. Maybe Synth will come in and post some random vague shit no one understands, more arguing, new thread comes along to argue in.

5) Because fuck you, that's why.
