So what was the exploit here? I'm fairly out of the loop on such things and I'm just curious.

Infest, a DoT applied by the LK, was removed when player health reached 100%. Players exploited Prayer of Fortitude by clicking it off, causing their maximum but not current HP to drop, removing the debuff instantly.

Eventually the mechanic was changed in some way that made this exploit impossible, but Blizzard apparently decided to nip any future problems in the bud by changing how UI mods address debuffs, which makes little sense since cancelaura macros still work.

There was a similar issue with players clicking off Leeching Swarm during P3 heroic Anub. The debuff drained a percentage of HP from players, healing the boss, so less HP meant an easier encounter. Again, maybe Blizzard was worried about boss mods manipulating player buffs to facilitate encounters.

Shadow priests could also use it to proc empowered shadows instead of casting mind blast for a dps increase in most cases.
