So today, on my usual PATH ride back from Newark, those little screens they have in the trains which are used to stream prodigious amounts of advertisements froze and rebooted. This has happened before and isn't terribly noteworthy anyway, but when they came back up they indicated that the date and time was January 27th, 2:30 AM. It was, I am exceedingly certain, January 13th at the time, and closer to 6:00 PM. Now, as a young quasi-urban yet thoroughly unfashionable male living in Manhattan, I am of course secretly deeply superstitious. As such, I would like to know how the otherwise innocuous sequence 1 27 230 (or any basic arithmetic applied to those numbers) will no doubt greatly affect me in the future, specifically in regards to:

1) my aura
2) my odds of doing another guy in the butt
3) the chance a barren ex-girlfriend of mine will miraculously conceive a child that is ambiguously mine but which I will not claim as my own because I'm too young for this shit
4) my occasional ability to say something relevant and insightful

I expect the 27th itself is a secret decoy and as such I'm not interested in what might happen that day, because that would be too obvious and anyone pretending to be prophetic without at least having the decency to muddle it in nonsense just isn't qualified at all to give me satisfactory predictions.

Shouldn't this just be a PM to Synth?

God spoke to you!

Book of Philippians 1:27-2:30

27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that, whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News; 28 and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God. 29 Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on his behalf, 30 having the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear is in me.

2:1 If there is therefore any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassion, 2 make my joy full, by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind; 3 doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; 4 each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.

5 Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, existing in the form of God, didn't consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputes, 15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world, 16 holding up the word of life; that I may have something to boast in the day of Christ, that I didn't run in vain nor labor in vain. 17 Yes, and if I am poured out on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice, and rejoice with you all. 18 In the same way, you also rejoice, and rejoice with me.

19 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered up when I know how you are doing. 20 For I have no one else like-minded, who will truly care about you. 21 For they all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ. 22 But you know the proof of him, that, as a child serves a father, so he served with me in furtherance of the Good News. 23 Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it will go with me. 24 But I trust in the Lord that I myself also will come shortly. 25 But I counted it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, fellow soldier, and your apostle and servant of my need; 26 since he longed for you all, and was very troubled, because you had heard that he was sick. 27 For indeed he was sick, nearly to death, but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow on sorrow. 28 I have sent him therefore the more diligently, that, when you see him again, you may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. 29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy, and hold such in honor, 30 because for the work of Christ he came near to death, risking his life to supply that which was lacking in your service toward me.

January 27 is the 27th day of the year in the Gregorian calendar. There are 338 days remaining until the end of the year.

Samuel 2:30 would be more appropriate to explain to Tuhl while he's not in the house but relegated to the porch. He'd prefer Joel 2:30 though, but that's just coincidental.

January 27 was the date that Dante Alighieri was exiled from Florence. 230AM in NY would be 830AM in Florence which obviously means he was exiled at 830AM on January 27. So, clearly, this is all a sign that your daily trip to Newark is akin to Dante's trip through Hell. Tuhl goes to Hell and back... every day.

;)

It does involve going in and out of New Jersey, but I think the trip is going out of hell and back in.

Sounds like the beginning plot of a good thriller novel. Keep writing it.

Except in leap years, when the 338 days remaining would be January 28th.

Quote:
Sources conflict as to how this triangular parcel at Broadway, Columbus Avenue, and West 63rd Street became parkland. It may have been acquired from John A. Bunting in 1852, or it may have been acquired as a public place by condemnation in 1868. For many years the site and the parcel to its north were both considered part of Empire Park. The two parcels were eventually separated into two parks. The north portion of Empire Park became Richard Tucker Triangle, and in 1921 the south portion of Empire Park was officially renamed by the Board of Aldermen for Italian poet Dante Alighieri (1265-1321).

So last night, as I looked out over Dante Park, on top of the Empire Hotel (behind Dante), I walked back inside and drank Johnny Walker Black while people murmured about the angry red moon in the sky. They are, of course, secretly deeply superstitious folk, those beautiful people.

I left at 2:30am. 'twas a fun night overall.

;)
