Your post would have more weight if you were referring to me (or most anyone else on this forum) yet aside from when I take the bait, he and I manage to avoid bad blood even in controversial threads. She's right in that I should just leave him permanently on ignore as well if for no reason than to stop the desire to white-knight when he's acting like an ass, but I'd like to believe compartmentalization with occasional breaks and outbursts will suffice.
