or, you know, we could have just helped him out instead of being "HAY SHUT UP AM SMARTER THAN YOU/YOU WONT EVER BE SMART"

idk what's wrong with you people. If you didn't want to help because of some flaw in the education system, you could have just ignored this thread and bathed in your self-perceived elitism without being assholes.

and btw, republicans want to cut education. go figure.

Typical liberal bleeding heart half-wittery and distortion.

No one said they were smarter than Brykon. They said he was lazy. Then they went on to say that you couldn't really blame him for being lazy because the system encouraged it.

Furthermore, Republicans do not want to "cut education." They want to remove the federal government from having any role in it. Education was traditionally a local responsibility in this country until sometime in the middle of the last century. Several decades of experimentation, social engineering, and ballooning budgets have led to ever-declining results. People are not happy with the state of education, especially when the places where they spend the most money generally gets the most abysmal results. That alone is reason enough to to decentralize education (among other things), and is only made more compelling when you consider that there is no Constitutional authority granted to the federal government as regards educations (and quite a few other things), and that according to the 10th Amendment, powers and responsibilities not specifically delegated to the federal government are the domain of the states and the people.

So to kill two birds with one stone, look up 10th Amendment issues, Brykon.

Your Pal,
Jubber

Why should something like a basic education be for-profit?

It shouldn't.

The states should be able to take care of it themselves though.

Education should be for the person getting educated's profit.

I appreciate people who think like that for ensuring that I don't have to do tedious stuff like bagging my own groceries.
