They like to get drunk and pull the fire alarm here, that's my only complaint.

That or there have actually been a few fires, people are stupid so it wouldn't surprise me.

Also, the fine for pulling the fire alarm is $5000 - hope it's that funny.

False fire alarms in winter suck. When I was an undergrad one of the dorms (not mine, thankfully) had that happen almost every weekend, sending 600 kids into the snow in their pyjamas.

Until one day the kid(s) assume it's a false alarm again, and start to ignore every single one until it's the real one.

This is exactly why certain laws exist.

ie. every 911 call has to be checked out, even if the little boy is crying wolf for the 900th time.

Yes, but when you have 3 calls a night 3 nights in a row, the fire department starts charging the school. That's how it worked in Boston 10 years ago.

Also, this is when there's vigilante justice, as the culprit was eventually caught by people who'd run out of their suites immediately after the alarm. Someone did tackle the person, leading to his beatdown while they waited for the cops to arrest him.

This reminds me of the alarm being pulled during my first college exam, last month, we were all PISSED. It was a real emergency, not a fire, but it was legit.

When the fire alarm rang in my dorm, I simply ignored it and kept doing whatever I was doing. If I got bitched at, I would just shrug and say I didn't notice the blaring klaxon.

I had a roommate once... keith...

Keith was the president of the black panthers on campus, or maybe it was black student union, but I digress.

Keith used to like to drop knowledge on my privileged white ass (he had a full ride, I paid my own way through college) about how the white man oppressed the negro.

I'd grab out a cold beer, sit back and try to keep a straight face while he explained to me gems like: How the man pushed malt-liquor and red meat on the black community because it reduces sperm count to impede their ability to reproduce.

Keith looked like the main character from A Different Wworld, minus the glasses and also liked "bigger girls". He had a girlfriend that would call from time to time indicating that she was coming over, to which Keith, adorned in naught but a towel and a smile, would shoe-horn the heifer of the moment with whom he was cheating on his girlfriend, give me a nod (some bro kind of thing I guess) and hop into the shower before "his girl" arrived.

Keith had line-backer sized friends that also were oppressed and I liked my teeth intact, so I just did my own thing and laughed my ass off with friends about the whole living situation.

Sometimes I miss Keith dropping knowledge on me.

This happened during exams for us =/ Happened once at 2 AM, then 4 AM and then again at 9 AM and 12pm. It fucking sucked balls, not only did i have to finish a research paper due the next day, but i also had another essay due the following day which i ended up doing in an hour of sleep depreived delusion.

Was awesome, i aced both essays.

My mom had a black guy get smart with her (she's a waitress) one time, and he made a comment about that whole white man keeping them down and ancestors and what not.

My mom told him straight up (but in a nice, professional tone) - "You're in the north. Ancestors of almost everybody here fought on your people's behalf. So, you're welcome."
