http://fora.tv/2011/01/20/Jane_McGoniga ... laying_WoW

I stumbled upon this as I was looking for something on Fora to watch. I'm not sure if the number is accurate but holy shit...

1) What day did you start playing WoW?
2) Across all your accounts, and all your characters, what is your total /played? (I'll settle for a guess.)

I started playing in April 2005, and have about 240 days played. That's an average of 2.7 hours per day ( ).

That depresses the hell out of me. I've been trying to play WoW less...and use that time instead to learn new things (specifically, music production)...it's just difficult because WoW has such a hold on me. I don't raid, but now I'm finding that I'm becoming an achievement whore. The speaker in the link makes such a good point...we spend so much time tackling meaningless tasks. What if we spent this time tackling real tasks? Think of all the hours we have spent in our lives interacting with things that aren't real and contribute nothing to society. Hey, it's awesome if someone has the best gear, the coolest mounts, and hardest achievements in WoW...but in the real world, in terms of humanity and civilization...it means nothing.

Will update later with my exact /played on all characters. I've been playing since December of 2007...bought the battle chest.

Main account 9-23-2006, however I have a free trial somewhere that was from spring of 06 that I have no idea what email address I used. It only had one character that was level 1 or maybe 2.

Baneleaf - last I checked was around 140 hours played. Between the rest of my alts I should easily be around 260 total if not more. Keep in mind though I played 5-6 hours from work every night when I first started so I spent alot of time mining and goofing off.

9 level 90s and 10 85s, Damn I need another hobby.

I hate this thread and this discussion because it makes me feel bad about my lack of life

I started playing sometime in April of 2008
I will get exact numbers later but I am pretty sure my hours logged on Henq were over 200 days when I checked sometime at the beginning of ICC
I have one alt at 85, and one alt at 80...I doubt those add up to much

I will be sure to check when I get home though...and then sit silently and think about what I have done

My mage's creation date was November 23, 2004. She has 109 days played. We've taken some pretty big breaks. :)

Account Created: 6/29/06
Recorded Hours (According to Xfire): 6,607 hours

And I don't get depressed seeing my time played. 6,607 hours enjoying my time, not exactly something to be depressed about.

7 days at level 85? God, I need to get outside.

21 days at level 85 alone, with another 85. That's with school and sleep. I wonder what has changed in my town since Cataclysm has been released :P

Zaryi has me beat on time at 85 but I have a druid I also play a little at 85.

My rogue being the only char I had for years, has the most time played in this thread as of now, being behind Laelia by roughly 2 hours.

All the other chars have much much MUCH less played time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

So after reviewing the time on my current chars, this is what I found:

461 days and 8 hours exactly on just the chars I still have. A total of roughly 500 days.

500 days over a period a little over 4 years. That's like more than a 3rd of the time on WoW. That's borderline Memyselfrye. I could have learned multiple languages in that time. Alas, I regret nothing.

That's a lot of fucking time.

Rogue [H]
Total - 238 days 23 hours
At 85 - 7 days 19 hours
