@weena

Who do you think is actually the primary consumer (actually purchases stuff) of rap music?

Today?

Young people.

Quote:
I 100% guarentee that Lupe goes into more depth in his lyrics than any of the satan-praising, howler monkeys you listen to do.

Oh dear mother why did you give me a birth
I didn't ask to be born
Oh dear father can't you see what you've done
I'm not the one you wanted me to become

A coward I am and a good-for-nothing
Still I can walk over you
When my head is down and I'm in distress
Moonshine is my gentle mistress

A drunkard I am and a yokel, too
Still I can walk over you
My hand is poor and I have to bluff
But cheating to win is not even enough

Walking alone, testing the water
Hiding skeletons in my closet

A coward, a drunkard, a withdrawn, a stranger

What the hell
I feel no shame
What the hell
I feel no shame

So dear mother why did you give me a birth
I didn't ask to be born
So dear father can't you see what you've done
I'm not the one you wanted me to become

Walking alone, testing the water
Hiding skeletons in my closet

A coward, a drunkard, a withdrawn, a stranger

I picked the one with the clearest message of what it's about.

"Ok we aren't such things and birds are pretty advanced. They fly and shit from anywhere they want. While we sit on our automatic toilets, they're shitting on people and my car while a cool breeze tickles their anus. That's the life."

Tbh, most music uses autotune to some degree, since it's nearly impossible for an artist to be 100% on pitch 100% of the time. The majority don't use it to the effect that Kesha, or some other Pop artists use it today though.

I fucking hate autotune...only because it's over used. I can respect if an artist uses it occasionally, but the way many artists are raping it nowadays is just depressing.

Also, I'm not sure why people have decided that artists even NEED to be 100% on pitch 100% of the time. Were The Beatles on pitch all the time? Floyd? Zeppelin? Etta James? Frank Sinatra? etc. etc. These artists didn't need autotune to sing and make fantastic music..I just don't understand why artists today feel they do.

I don't mind a touchup via autotune any more in my music than i do air brushing in modeling shots.

but when it gets to the point of kesha or kid rock trying to sing, it gets stupid.

autotune is only acceptable if you're Autotune The News.

satan praising howler monkeys?

Quote:
As we live in these dark days filled with violence, opposition and hate.
There lies a place of saving grace
Protected in the hearts of the humble
The faithful, the ones who choose the path of resistance to protest
Protect, save, proclaim our lives lived not in vain.
In flesh, in spirit eternal
One love, One truth, One destiny

One love! (one love) one truth! (one truth) one destiny

Arise and be triumphant
No rest until all is fulfilled
Our roots must balance our branches
Be vigilant in truth and lov
(in truth and love)

Chorus
There is a strength in numbers we must unite mankind
There is a strength in numbers, our faith lies deep inside
(We!) We struggle, (We) we suffer, (So) so we must come together
(We!) We struggle, (We) we suffer, (but) but we will live forever

Babylon's method of deception
So devious the strong are swayed
(so devious, the strong are swayed)

Chorus
There is a strength in numbers we must unite mankind
There is a strength in numbers, our faith lies deep inside
(We!) We struggle, (We!) we suffer, (So!) so we must come together
(We!) We struggle, (We!) we suffer, (but!) but we will live forever

(One love, one truth)
(One love, one truth)

guitar solo

One love! (one love) one truth! (one truth) one destiny

(Yeaaaaah)
Chorus
There is a strength in numbers we must unite mankind
There is a strength in numbers, our faith lies deep inside
(We!) We struggle, (We!) we suffer, (So!) so we must come together
(We!) We struggle, (We!) we suffer, (but!) but we will live forever

May the sun shine upon you and bless your inner light
and may you find true peace

ok, show me the lyrics where dmx is rapping about killin a dude, and the last line goes something like "and if he has a daughter, imma rape her"

its ok though, cuz its so deep and betters the lives of so many people.

Most rap is shit, most rock/metal is shit. The majority of music in both genres is repetitive, unoriginal, and has bad lyrics. You two retards can stop going in circles now.

Citing a song on a groomed debut album that's 13 years old isn't going to aid you in any argument.

I'm not sure why there's an argument in the first place. Every genre has shit in it, and every artist has had a song that "pushes the envelope" either for the good or for the bad. You're all going to sit here and point out the glaringly bad in each genre while ignoring the good because it doesn't suit your argument.

Quote:
you can't see the forest for the trees
you can't smell your own shit on your knees

there's no time to discriminate,
hate every motherfucker
that's in your way

Hey you, what do you see?
something beautiful, something free?
hey you, are you trying to be mean?
if you live with apes man, it's hard to be clean

the worms will live in every host
it's hard to pick which one they eat most
the horrible people, the horrible people
it's as anatomic as the size of your steeple
capitalism has made it this way,
old-fashioned fascism
will take it away

Keep flinging that shit, people.

This is one of those threads that I feel should be split.

or maybe, after having read the first couple of posts, and I can't believe I'm saying this, renamed.
