I doubt him dying brought closure to many people - I'm not even sure that was the purpose of ending his life. He died because he had to. There was no good to come of letting that bastard live another day. If this is all true, I'm glad he's dead. What other option did we have? Should we have captured him and let him run through the legal system, taking advantage of appeal after appeal only so some law-school schmuck could come to his defense in hopes to get his sentence reduced or stayed? It's not like he would've ratted out his organization in an effort to spare his life! To answer your question I don't think we would have gained anything from taking him alive. We did lose something, though; one crazy nut-bag that was the head of an evil organization that was hell-bent on killing anyone not like him/them... and maybe the only thing the world gained an ounce of security with his death - in light of all that he's plotted and done I'm not sure it's enough of a gain, but it's more good than he's done with his stay on this planet.
I wonder if this means we'll be getting our rights back.
Probably not. We're still at war with the group and until their ideaology is destroyed (however in the hell we do that) then our freedoms will remain limited as is.
Let's be honest - Neither of us is losing sleep at night over the Patriot Act since we're not the people DHS is actively looking for. Sure, we might not agree with the measures, but I doubt we've been violated as individuals.

It took us 10 years and an unknown amount of billions of dollars and civillian's lives to hunt down the figurehead that has no real power structure that can have Osama replaced three times in ten minutes.
I hope you're happy.
What do you suggest we should have done and how would your suggestion have made things any different?
