Yeah, if you'll re-read what I wrote...I didn't say anything about MSNBC, or any of the other news networks to try to claim that they are some beacon of equality. All news networks could do better in presenting both sides of the story.
So last night the wife and I settled down to watch a bit of TV after dinner. We couldn't settle on anything so she said, "Fine, since you can't make up your mind we're watching Hannity." I don't care for Hannity very much because his program has been on repeat since the election... and it's a carbon-copy of his radio program (which I will catch from time to time on my way home from work).
I started watching around 9:10p and I stopped around 9:35p. During that time, Hannity interviewed Speaker Bohener and Hannity was asking him about the concessions made to get a continuing resolution, and who was responsible for constantly lowering the 'cut' amount. Hannity also asked the Speaker about Libya.
After that segment, Hannity started talking about Michelle Bachman and how the media was attacking her a day after she announced her presidential run because she was a conservative woman and that no other politicians (especially women) take a beating like the conservative women do. During this segment, he had two guests; one woman was a Fox News contributor and the other woman was a Democratic strategist. They had a pretty heated discussion where all three parties stated their opinion. Hannity made it clear that he didn't support the President when he said (and I'm paraphrasing here), "One of my biggest regrets was the
Stop Hillary Express because I would love to have her as President over Obama anyday." That should be indication enough of his bias as a commentator, although, he did say he would've taken a democrat over a democrat. I'd say all three had equal time to voice their opinions and say their parts. The democratic strategist denounced people treating her [bachman] wrongly because she's a woman and said Bachman needs to learn more facts to have less gaffes. She also likened the smear campaign against Bachman to the things said about Hillary (which everyone noted that Hannity had no part). Hannity and the Fox News contributor continued saying that it was still an unequal treatment and then said if we're going to be critical of gaffe's (like the media has been of Bachman) then they should've been critical of Biden and Obama's gaffes, but since they're neither Conservative or women, the media had no real part in reporting it.
The next segment was still on Michelle Bachman and Hannity had two more guests; some talk radio host (who was going after Obama) and another Democratic strategist. Obama started the discussion talking with the radio host. I went in the other room to fool around with my router (since we had a big storm and the internet has been down). When I came back, Hannity was talking to the strategist. I'm not sure what was said during their discussion.
As I was cleaning up for bed, I heard that Hannity was talking to Greta about something.
In that short time watching the show, Hannity had clearly displayed his bias (by saying he didn't support the president's policies, he would've rather had Hillary as President, that Obama's record is largely a failing one, etc.) and his discussions about Bachman were with both democrats and republicans.
What did Maddow do? I wasn't watching...
