This video made me think of him and since this board has been geared more towards politics lately.

What is your take on Ron Paul? Approve? Think he should fuck off? Is bat shit crazy etc etc?

Just wondered what everyone thought.

Ron Paul's worldview (and that of many libertarians) would work if we were still farmers and small business owners with limited reach. In today's world of mega-corporations the thought of giving them free reign is mind-boggling. People rightly complain about the power of these corporations now and the impotence of the average citizen who comes up against them, in a libertarian world there would be no stopping the complete power of the few massively conglomerated companies from controlling pretty much everything.

I like a lot of Ron Paul's ideas. I think drugs should be legal. I don't like the TSA touching my junk. I hate taxes. Etc. etc.

However:

1) I can't take him or his son very seriously since they will never reach the tipping point of voter support to even be considered a legit candidate
2) A lot of his ideas are great on paper - but probably wouldn't work when applied to the real world
3) He's like that crazy uncle you invite to Thanksgiving. He means well, and he provides a lot of entertainment...but he's never going to win turkey-cutting responsibilities because too few people trust him with a knife.

That's the most truthful campaign poster I've ever seen.

I simply don't care at this point. I envision myself in 20 years as one of those Montana dwelling gun toting government hating militia leading crazies..just leave me the fuck alone, because I don't give a dead man's last shit about steroid use in baseball, or raising taxes / cutting entitlements when the government will be laughably wasteful anyway. I'm sick of government applying bandaids where open heart surgery is needed.

Address the real problems we face. I am very much in favor of lengthening term limits in an attempt to put an end to the 2 year / 4 year political cycle. We have Senator-elects not even in office already planning their fucking reelection campaign. You kidding me? I'm tired of gotcha politics, where people show a partial clip of an Obama speech and distort everything without focusing on issues. If your response is 'that's just politics' then my response is 'we can and should do better.'

I am TIRED TO ALL HELL of people claiming that because America isn't as bad as North Korea YET, that it never will be. I am sick of complacency. See: Aestu's sig.

Politics can choke on a bucket of AIDS and drown in it's own vomit.

I don't see any kind of meaningful changes coming about via the democratic process. I hold the belief that the government, media and social hierarchy are such that they are entrenched in their ways far deeper than simply voting President Jimmy R Buttfuck into office can change.

I don't give a fuck about this country enough to throw the first molotov cocktail though.

Yep, and this is what many people have learned during Obama's presidency. Hell, I think Obama learned it to a degree himself.

All that talk about "Change" and out with the Status Quo....people bought into it. I voted for the guy myself...but I was wary. Clearly, Obama hasn't done much "changing" in Washington. It's still the same political talking point cesspool it was before he was president...it will be the same after he's president.

Look at the debt ceiling issues. This is a HUGE issue, and these politicians keep walking out of talks because they are butthurt. It's pathetic and proof of why this government is ultimately ineffective.
