If i do end up playing that game, which is looking more and more unlikely, there is no way in fuck that i'd use real money for gear.

15% though. Funny, that's way more than the sales tax. If there's $8M in transactions a day amongst a playerbase of equal size - $1 avg per person per day - which is conservative - they will be pulling down a million dollars a day; at $3 avg per person per day, they'll be pulling down a billion a year, just from AH.

If that's not printing money, I don't know what is.

Oh, unrelated note. A professor encouraged me to create a classically themed videogame. So I wrote up a scheme for a tactical RPG set in Spain in 220BC. I'm refining it a bit more, I'm thinking I might actually hit CL and pick up some programmers. Want to read the manifest, I can send a copy.

It also means that inflation in D3 is going to be fucking insane.

Imagine if everything on the WoW AH cost 100 times more than it does now while the income of most players from quests vendors etc remained constant. That's what D3 is going to be like.

The game will be played mostly by 15-year-olds who will just ask Mom to buy everything.

EDIT: Thinking about it more, Blizzard will probably try to defeat their own mechanics and balance the economy by putting the game on light speed. You think gear/stat inflation in WoW is nuts, just watch how fast Blizzard will run the economy in D3. I bet they'll double mob cash drops every two weeks.

I highly doubt it'll live up to the hype.

After TOR, I'm also abstaining from big name titles for a while, especially Activision and EA.

Sounds really cool. I'm interested in learning more.

Just log into battle.net and it will show up if you have it. I don't even know if I actually have beta access since loading the game just sits at a black screen forever, but I can DL the client. And for whatever reason the D3 updater/launcher takes 30% processing power by itself. Good job Blizzard.

fake edit
Had to change the resolution in Diablo 3 folder in Documents. Game looks pretty nifty. Everything set to max in game.

Can you dupe in this game? I liked duping in Diablo.

I'll pirate it. I'm not interested in paying $60 plus god knows how much for the multiplayer content.

That's fine. I also paid $60 for TOR, which is essentially three quarters of a game right now, so you'll excuse me if my confidence in big-name games is pretty low.

Just so you know Meowth, the D3 beta is probably the second-best game of 2011.

I won't pirate games.

If I steal a game, I have no right to bitch about it. If I buy it, I have every right.

Or at least that's my fucked up logic.
