I can already say yes you can play it but only on low/medium at some unknown fps because you won't have that much VRAM to work with (I'm assuming 512MB, and no they don't stack) Based on battlelog forum posts and using google translate on some I'm guessing 30-40 on medium pending resolution.
ps, 580 is a dead weight card. 7970/7950 are better, cost the same or less, and can overclock very well.
My Gigabyte Windforce 7970 runs at 60c under max load, and that is overclocked to 1125/1550 up from 925/1375 from stock clocks without any voltage mod. And I might be able to tip it up a bit more if I played with it long enough.

The 9800GT will work 100% with driver 285.62 The beta drivers give problems and i had to uninstall each time and go back to this 285.62. Medium settings are the max for this card but you will need to manually turn up the fan to above 55% to keep it cool. 1680x1050 Resolution will give decent fps. But really a GTX580 for BF3 and all Ultra

On what settings should I play this card? Auto shows me the texture of high and low, but the rest I know that is a little exaggerated. I have about 48 FPS. So what do you think? I tried it on ultra and I ok.32 FPS. Today I downloaded the latest drivers from GeForce.com and still have not played

Palit 9800GT 512 Mb firewood 285.75, 1920 * 1080, playing on the floor, because when you install the higher settings, the FPS drops very noticeably, and at minimum, 35 FPS stable.

Despite having something of a vested financial interest in BF3, I decided not to buy it when they made their shitty Origin platform part of the terms for buying it for PC. I'm even less inclined to buy anything EA related after their fiasco with the ME3 DLC.

Origin is no different than Steam at this point except the Origin overlay is worse.
