Mine finished about an hour ago after canceling it (TO PLAY GAIMZ) thinking it would continue from the 36% it was on...it didn't.

I don't understand how in 2012 there isn't a resume function.

GINORMOUS PINK WALL OF LETTERS COMBINED TO CREATE WORDS OF INTELLIGENCE FORMING SENTENCES

I PvP'd for about an hour this morning as a Thief.

Controls, movement and camera all feel clunky.

I completely forgot about the "everyone has equal gear so this game is about skill, not gear..". I joined the BGs and everyone was just mashing everything, is there going to be something based around 1v1? It felt like a massive shit fest.

I swear there were 3 caster guys that looked exactly the same, running around me mashing everything, I just vanished (lol it heals you ;D) and walked away.

SO MUCH AOE

Also, if you want GW2 for just PvP, wheres the fun in being handed everything?

Maybe I'm just one of those people who has had their MMO games ruined by WoW.

Hmm don't really want to give to many spoilers. I only played PvE stuff and mostly on a human thief.

Was very polished for such an early beta.(It didn't have any tutorial stuff in this build but was fun to learn as I went)

Ranged > melee atm(Survivability, ranged can kite very effectively... melee cannot and the dodge mechanic is kinda wonky in melee range).

Most of the stuff I didn't like is easily fixt, like tuning up the XP(ran out of things to do and was like 5 levels to low to move on and no I didn't miss anything!!{I didn't pvp or level a profession tho}), tuning down some of the event boss's(as a melee I found myself getting one/two shot pretty often by same level events{you can't spam evade abilitys forever><) and better directions from guards(where are the damn profession trainers> <). Weapon abilitys: even though you CAN use any weapon combos for RP purpose's they aren't quite balanced in PvE at this point(from a thief perspective anyways since you use a resource on your abilitys) I often found myself spamming 1 skill because the others weren't worth the cost of putting off the good one. Keybinds, I don't think you are able to use modifiers(Shift Ctrl Alt) and I think your binds are account wide not toon specific so it would be very hard to like bind your snare to the same button on every toon/weapon type because one snare might be on 2 and another on 4 and now this weapon is in your offhand so its 5.. you get the idea.

But yea they have a lot of time to adjust all that stuff so I am still very excited for the game and hopefully getting into future beta weekends :D

PS: Its pretty :]

Yah, like Hoenhiem, the major issue I had is easily fixed, and a fix is apparently in the making (no key binds with modifiers :[ ). I wasn't pleased with how they implemented the competitive PvP as you could only join with a preset build and the thief build fucking sucked - I am not a fan of dagger/dagger thieves.

The biggest realization for me was how organic the PvE felt, and how easy it was to play with people even if you weren't 'playing with them'. Escorting a caravan by myself quickly escalated into 20 people guarding the thing, and the difficulty scaled without being completely obvious.

I also totally, completely fell in love with the guardian. Sigh :[

how'd the end of the beta event go for you guys? We got destroyed on Maguuma and ended up having to have devs come in and godmode it for us after we failed for an hour, lol.

Dagger/Dagger is pretty decent if you can group up melee mobs, you just go in stack aoe bleeds(spam #3) then tab your short bow and kite/AOE them until they all die. In PvP I assume you would go in stack the bleed while dodging and then stealth out and reset /repeat. Single target PvE Sword/Dagger seemed the only viable option(double pistols was neat but if you can't burst the target in x3 #3 or there are multiple mobs then its horrible > <)

I kinda sorta missed the stress test event, I fell asleep on the couch waiting for it and by the time I got in I was in an overflow zone which only had like 5 people in it so I just went to bed : [

Clunky is just as terrible of a word as viable and has lost all of its meaning.

My definition of "clunky" handling means "if it's not as smooth as WoW."

Every video leads me to believe it really is "just as smooth as wow". The only thing you have to do is designate ground targets or directions on some abilities.

It handled as smooth as WoW for me, excluding the last stress test event with over 200 people and 80 mobs slinging shit at one another, then it hitched and wasn't nearly as responsive as it had been.

Maybe it was an issue with Yew's rig, as he's pretty much the only person I've heard even mention the word clunky in regards to the controls.

The problem is that the "dodge" that every class gets is a touch hard to aim(you double tap one of your WASD and roll in that direction), so if you go side ways or backwards you end up with your camera looking the wrong way or you mouse spin it and with the amount of dodging you have to do to live through competitive stuff it gives me a head ache > < the other problem is its REALLY hard to roll beside a target that is facing you, you pretty much alwasy end up just going straight away from it in one dir or another which means you have to come back to the add to dps and by then its swing timer is back up so it hits you anyways.

One of the thief abilitys is supposed to let you leap behind your target(this is also the hardest hitting ability for sword/dagger) but if your target is moving or you are next to your target/facing sideways to him then you end up jumping off into no where land and have to run back in.

All that said a big part of the "clunky" feel to the combat for me is that there are no target of target frames as of yet so you couldn't tell who or what was attacking you and you can't zoom the camera out as far as you can in wow and it really feels like you are to close to see enough combat details(really pissed me off when trying to put AOE circles on the the far side of hills or behind rocks and you just couldn't get the right camera angle)

But again its not terrible it just not perfect yet.
