I would, but it goes live 3 AM Eastern which means by the time it's downloaded, I'll be passed out.

did you even try the beta, if you didn't know about the 4 party limit? there is a LOT of shit that just makes you go "wat". as i've said before, it's not terrible, it just doesn't feel like diablo. i would've been satisfied if they just copied titan quest and added the diablo flavor and a few of their own ideas, but this just doesn't feel worth a 14 year wait or whatever it is.

i know nothing about this game, but theres some cool ideas in this video from about 4:50 onward. you'd kind of expect something new and cool like this from the people who invented the genre, instead D3 feels like a downgrade in every single way from titan quest.

It's the one thing about D3 I don't understand. I loved the beta, and I'm going to like release. But it makes no sense to me (or to anyone, from what I've gathered) for the cap to be 4 and not 8.

Do you think that the dumb kids this game is really targetting (and who demand to see all content and loot all gear) are capable of working in groups bigger than four?

That should never have even been a concern. Difficulty in D2 adjusted based on the size of the party (though you could always increase-not decrease-the difficulty through console commands) so it was mostly irrelevant whether you were soloing or had seven other dudes with you.

1. This isn't D2
2. That would require competent tuning
3. Group scaling + china botters + cheese comps + RMAH = ?????

...because dollars and euro are worth way more than yuan; Blizzard has always regarded the Asian market as second-string at best, "we made this game, we might as well localize it for Asia too".

What's your point?

1. It is substantially similar.
2. It would require exactly the same thing as D2 did, which is simple scaling. There was no "tuning" in D2, things just did more damage and had more health to adjust for more players. This frequently led to oneshotting of players on higher difficulties, and everyone was okay with it.
3. What Meowth said. Plus, anyone who thinks the money made (on a personal level) from RMAH will be more than marginal is deluded.

I can't speak as to the gameplay, but structurally, no, as Grimm pointed out about gear inflation and scrolling content and difficulty. Blizzard has explicitly stated it won't be similar in those respects and there is good reason to believe them on this point as it is consistent with their overall change in policy.

People were okay with trash mobs oneshotting DPS in TBC. Now?

Again, you're saying "what worked in D2 will be work in D3, and players in D3 will be as cool with it as they were in D2". That simply isn't cogent. They're not aiming at the same market, especially since Blizzard takes it for granted that everyone who liked D2 will buy the box no matter how shitty the game is. Therefore, the focus of their efforts lies elsewhere.

What makes you think that? There's no monthly sub and they're giving away what, a million copies? Where do you think they're going to get their dough from?

The underlying problem I see with your thinking, Tuhl, is that you think D3 will be a true sequel to D2 in the same spirit as that game. I simply can't believe that to be the case.

Wait, it's coming out tomorrow? Wow, I had no idea.
I'll have to connive a way to get the CE pet without paying for it.

On the plus side, this will make it much, much easier for me to mount a Handmaiden. With raiders deserting for D3, I can extort someone into giving me a spot.

EDIT: It appears to be sold out everywhere. I know what I'll do! I'll go to that trashy dying mall tomorrow (today) and buy two copies. While I'm there, I'll pick up Pokemon Black, shop for some consumables at Target (licorice, lime juice and seltzer), and sit at the empty food court and read and work on my applications and write some letters.

For me i don't know whether to look at D3 as being the same people who made WoW, or the same people who made D2. When i listened to all the BlizzCon things about D3 it felt like standard 2011 Blizzspeak, which frightened me (for lack of a better word). I guess part of the reason i'm not excited is the Spacehunter of 2012 isn't the same Spacehunter of 2007 when it comes to Blizzard. I'm not anti-Blizzard and shit but that implicit love and trust just isn't what it used to be.

Still, i want my game and my lame CE pet (which might be awesome, i'm not looking at what it is until i see it in-game tomorrow). I can't see it being cooler than Grunty but I WANT.

I was looking at classes earlier. Kinda leaning toward the Demon Hunter simply due to the slight engineering bias. It's not as strong as i'd like though. Engineering is pretty much what made me buy WoW in the first place when i was looking at the website on the day before Vanilla's release. I see grenades and a turret but that's about it. Too much like a petless Hunter. I'll look at the Witch Doctor later and if i'm not impressed i'll go back to my initial choice which was the manly Barbarian.
