But there are people who can better their lives by working harder. Spending less money on bullshit and more time working. Etc. The rich aren't 100% of the problem, and they won't be 100% of the solution.
If we lived in North Korea or the USSR, would you say that about the Communist Party? That it's not entirely the Communist Party's fault that life in a Communist state sucks? Or that we should work harder to better our meager lives if we lived under a Communist government?
What if there were a war and China conquered the US and set up a puppet state that expected us to work hard to send resources back to China? Would you then say that we should work harder to better our lives, that it's 100% the fault of the puppet state that our lives suck?
No? Then why split the difference here? It adds up to the same thing, which is that control of resources and the political system are in the hands of people who are not us. Whether that's the Communists, the Chinese, or oligarchs, what difference does it really make?
Don't you think that if the Communists or Chinese took over the country, they would set up pro-Chinese and pro-Communist propaganda to con people into being their cronies? To convince the American people that their new overlords are benign? When the Soviets conquered East Germany, they did just that, and 50 years later enough people were convinced that the Communist Party still polls well enough in East Germany to be a viable mainstream party - but not in the West. In fact a lot of East Germans would like to have the Communists back (go watch the movie
Goodbye, Lenin!). Why? Because they fell for the propaganda.
So isn't it logical to think that you are being similarly influenced by propaganda - that you thinking to split the difference is the propaganda having its effect, just as in every other country under the control of some exploitative authority? Isn't it more logical to think to resist that oppressor than to do what it wants you to do?
