I tip very well and am very polite and patient when I go to bar-world type places, because I know the people and I'll see them in either of my two bars later on. It's a mutual thing with bar employees here. I'll have to type out some of the stories sometime.

Everywhere else I'm above average on tipping and everything else, unless something special/horrible happens. I've lived off tips long enough to know how it goes, so i spread the generosity around when I can.

I tip a dollar a beer, $3 a mixed drink so they remember me and make my shit strong. I tip the pizza guy $3 if its under the projected time frame, $2 if its within the allotted timeframe, and $1 after. The delivery guys make the same amount as the people who cook the pizzas and have their gas comped, so I'm not breaking the bank to give them more money (this is when I'm paying for just my pizza, btw).

Restaurants go anywhere from 10-25%. I'll usually tip around 20 unless certain things happen, like my food comes out cold when it isn't busy or I'm constantly getting badgered by the waiter to order when its been 10 minutes. I'm pretty easy-going, but doing stuff like blaming the kitchen because you took too long to run my order doesn't fly.

Not always true, especially small or local shacks.

I hate when bartenders make weak drinks.

I've never bartended...do they get berated at the end of the night if they go through too many bottles of liquor or something?

I've gotten rum and cokes that were so weak they tasted just like coke. If I'm going to drop a ton of money on it, please don't rip me off.

Liquor bottles here have a stopper that stops pouring at one shot. If your bartender pours you the proper amount of alcohol and it still tastes weak, that means it was mixed well.

No, but they'll get fired if you pay for a single and they give you a double. Its stealing and a lot of places will weigh their bottles regularly as a sort of inventory.

Getting weak drinks wouldn't be a problem if you people enjoyed your drink the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

Unless you're buying bathtub gin or lighter fluid. In which case, learn to chase.

Or you could go with a baseline.

Pizza $2-5
Restaurant 15-20%
Fuck everyone else.

The only thing I do every time is restaurants.

Which makes sense if I'm ordering some $12 cocktail made by a professional bartender. When I order a gin and tonic, I want to actually taste the gin, not have 1 ounce of gin, 4 ounces of tonic, and 7 ounces of ice in a pint glass. Also, a lot of places will either water down or refill the bottles of their top-shelf shit with mid-shelf liquor since their customers won't know any better, so its a constant struggle between owners frantically cutting corners and customers coming back for more drinks.

Either become a regular somewhere or don't order mixed drinks at a bar.

Since I have worked in service industries in the past and know what a pain-in-the-ass it is, I usually tip very well unless someone does something to piss me off and make me hate their face.

I normally just tip 5$ on any meal 20 and under. If it's more I'll probably kick it up a few bucks, if its like 50+ i'll just drop a 20 normally unless I had a shitty waiter/food/experience etc.

Fuck all you nerds with your math. And yeah 1$ a drink normally.

I don't apply math to tips, but I am definitely one of those people who will hand the cashier a random amount of cash and coins, then look at them expectantly, waiting to receive back a few round bills and change.

I want to move somewhere that tipping is not acceptable.

Really don't get the whole feudalistic practice.
