Basically...
I'd never work in retail if I could help it.
Which I can.
And so can a ton of other people who do work in retail.
Which I don't understand.
...is what I meant.
if they could help working in retail, they wouldn't be working in retail. so they probably can't help it. you can, which is why you don't understand that some people really can't
Pretty much this.
Not to gang up on you Fanta coz you know ilu, but this is something I've mentioned before in similar words. I think from your place of privilege you have a hard time seeing things from other perspectives and situations. There are a whole lot of people whose job opportunities are basically: retail, fast food, or some other kind of job you fortunately would never have to take.
You can pursue your dreams, which is awesome. The sad thing is, there are a lot of people in this world, and even in this country, who cannot.
I had privilege myself, so I was so glad I only had to work fast food for 4 years in high school. I was able to go on to college, get a business degree, and now I run my own business...but there were people I worked with who would never have those opportunities. Rather than looking down upon them, I try to respect that they're doing the best they can and making decisions that aren't fun, aren't glamorous, but they need to be made.
