I'd gladly take a retail job right now, applying literally everywhere and I only got called in for one interview who then didn't call again. :(

IF you end up having to go to small claims(if it is just a stand alone restaurant or even a franchise owned by the guy running it) then it will most likely end up costing you more than 23hours wage in time and money(though it it can be gratifying). I've known scum bag people who muddle things up so that they can get new employee's that aren't working out to both quit and not cost them any money.

I suppose I should clarify that I meant those who aren't struggling to eat lol. Like a summer job at a retail place for when I'm on break? Hell no. I'd sooner mooch off my mum than be subject to that torment. A little extra searching usually leads to a better job outside retail but a lot of students seem to feel that Abercrombie or McDonalds are the only places that will hire them. It's sad.

I do it for extra income because having more spending money is nice.

I'm also the most charming person on the planet so I don't have issues, ever.

I'm not sure what I've said to make people's panties bunch up. Perhaps conveying my thoughts via the written word isn't my forte.

Basically...

I'd never work in retail if I could help it.
Which I can.
And so can a ton of other people who do work in retail.
Which I don't understand.

...is what I meant.

if they could help working in retail, they wouldn't be working in retail. so they probably can't help it. you can, which is why you don't understand that some people really can't

Pretty much this.

Not to gang up on you Fanta coz you know ilu, but this is something I've mentioned before in similar words. I think from your place of privilege you have a hard time seeing things from other perspectives and situations. There are a whole lot of people whose job opportunities are basically: retail, fast food, or some other kind of job you fortunately would never have to take.

You can pursue your dreams, which is awesome. The sad thing is, there are a lot of people in this world, and even in this country, who cannot.

I had privilege myself, so I was so glad I only had to work fast food for 4 years in high school. I was able to go on to college, get a business degree, and now I run my own business...but there were people I worked with who would never have those opportunities. Rather than looking down upon them, I try to respect that they're doing the best they can and making decisions that aren't fun, aren't glamorous, but they need to be made.

What kind of business are you running nowadays? And are you hiring?

Sounds like someone's employer was breaking child labor laws.
