My first onling games were the Age of Empire/Mythology series. I saw that Warcraft crap on the shelves, but because I got the Age... games for free because of working for a Microsoft partner I played them. Then a buddy gave me his second Guild Wars account, but by the time I got high enough level to do anything, they all baile for that Warcraft game. Then I took a Motley Crue heroin OD shot of Warcraft and said fuck it, sume 300 hours played later and I am here bitching with you fine folks. The end.

Although, Old Republic will deffinately get a few of my dollars, I can't resist the force. If it comes out in the lul between WoW expansions, say late summer, it can really be the first game to hurt WoWs subscrition base because it won't suck ass like the last line of failmo's.

I think the same thing is said about every MMO that comes out.
"WOW KILLER INC"

Never going to happen imo.

Blizzard will have to just shut the servers off to get people out.

How many suicides/murders would be the result of such actions?

i used to play NWN back when it came out in 2000, but didn't play multiplayer mode until much later and it sucked since it was everyone running into rooms by themselves and not exploring as a group GRATS ON FAILING UR DUNGEONEERING ROLLS D:

the next mmorpg i played was WoW after being bored enough

after that i played WAR during closed beta and played it for a few months after launch. i liked it until they buffed witchhunters and nerfed shamans, resulting in witchhunters one shotting me :< also, they had a loot system in rvr which would cause random loot to drop so people could gear up, however it was just everyone needing everything so you could never actually get anything you could wear :< then all my friends quit playing it so i did, too

i played aion during open beta and it was visually stunning, but the lag on their servers was terrible along with their rubberbanding. pretty much every quest hub was a nessingwary quest

right now im pretty much just playing rts games and writing+playing a dnd campaign which if we didnt get together only once a week might be the most awesomest thing ever

with that said, i might start getting other people to pay for my WoW again since i am doing nothing this summer and an irl friend re-subbed

I do agree that there is no way to actually kill WoW. But I do think whith the dumbing down of the game, if Bioware keeps to their history of making no-bullshit games, they can put a dent, even a small one, in the player base. I think they will pull much more player base from the console geeks and those who quit playing game when they discovered that sunlight would not kill them.

and Eturnal, it would be a mass suicide of proportions no one has ever seen. There would be people lining up for the kool-aid and laying down in front of Blizzards HQ spelling out gold selling websites in the lawn.

No they won't, Remember its Activision Blizzard, it is not a merger in the sense that they usually happen. This is more of a Marrige between companies. Like the more current Continental Airlines and United Merger. The best of both worlds are there. Though Activision and Blizzard Entertainment still exist as separate entities and as such Blizzard retained its autonomy and corporate leadership. This is EASILY able to be seen just by looking at the boxes that the games come in as well as on the books and everything else related to WOW or Starcraft. If you need proof grab a copy of Arthas, Stormrage, or Wotlk, the trademarking symbol is not Activision Blizzard, nor is the copyright. It is Blizzard Entertainment, and only that.

Sure they have picked up a few things from Activision, but not a lot, if they had they would not constantly be hiring customer service employees. Do you not think that activision can not handle that. Nor would they ever have removed, Shipping and handling costs from the authenticator, which, if you look at site for digipass, the thing costs only a few pennies less to buy from them than we pay.

Yes I know the controversy over Starcraft 2 being released in three games is getting to people, but they wanted this one to tell each story in huge arcs that will take time to play. I would rather have it that way then lets cut out this and trim that because we need to get it out on time. On top of that people complain about the micro transactions that are being added to the game. Well IMO no one should, they have been in the Asian marketplace for years, its a way of life over there in the games, Western Society has just not caught onto it yet. Plus they are not adding things in that will completely break the game play, Yes the stupid horse has a small advantage but its not a huge one. The server transfers and the faction changes they never intended to be in here to begin with, it was a process they had to pay people extra to do, and there are now many ways around paying. You do not want to pay to be Horde on the same server well here you go you can now roll horde on a PVP server anytime you want. You want a new gender, here you go you can reroll.

Finally my favorite complaint about WoW which was mentioned here is the graphics engine is to dated. Well IMHO and as they said back in august, its not really. It was designed to age gracefully and it has, it was designed so even if there are few polygons to play with a face lift can be done with a simple re-texturing of the scene. Plus it fits the series well, I mean look at Warcraft 3 and look at WoW, it looks like it SHOULD look to me. Also why put out a game and then update it so 1/2 your player base who do not have great computers can no longer use it. WoW runs well on almost any machine. I mean you might have it on low settings but you can play if you want to.

Well Aestu would definitely go on a rampage and then commit Seppuku...not sure about how many more would be so drastically affected.

Dear Blizzard,

Please do your part in stemming overpopulation.

Anyone who likes Battlestar Galactica at the expense of far far far far superior shows about space like Firefly can no longer be considered my friend.

Also, most MMOs are WoW clones, whether they pretend to be or not. The only MMO that deserves special recognition (EvE doesn't count, it's barely a game) is City of Heroes/Villains, because it's genuinely not WoW and is tons of fun.

Are you talking Battlestar Galactica 1.0 or 2.0??
