It doesn't, but abandoning your spot that thousands of people voted for you in good faith and the hundreds who spent their time campaigning for you pisses on a lot of shoes and is generally a dick move. I bet if Obama resigned to become a spokesman on MSNBC you'd have a different opinion on this.

You're right. President Obama, although didn't say, "Drill Baby, Drill", expanded drilling in the Gulf (and other places). Also, didn't Obama give BP a safety award in 2009? Also, don't forget there are ,thousands (Maybe tens of thousands), of oil and gas platforms in waters and off our coast. Drilling over water has been going on for over a century... and with the number of rigs in operation, I'd say there has been a pretty soild track record for the operation.

That doesn't make it any better. I mean, slavery was (at one point) endorsed/tolerated by both political parties and had a tradition spanning thousands of years.

Still, if you're against the expanding of drilling, then perhaps you should stop driving, using products of plastic, oils, electricity, anything not produced locally, etc... since oil is used in every step of our lives...

Maybe if you don't like the president you should just leave the country. Oil isn't red meat, you can't just stop using it and switch to BocaOil, and you can thank the oil lobby for that. Becoming completely functionless in society doesn't really send a point and only really hurts yourself.

Palin apologist.

You're either trolling/trying too hard/being so completely jaded on this issue that nobody should bother.

Quote:
So you don't like Palin and didn't vote for McCain because Palin is stupid... so I'm guessing you voted for Obama because Biden is a genius? O lawd, so funny.

Obama isn't a 70something POW. McCain dying is a very serious prospect within the next 4 years. I don't want someone so stupid running the country. Not to mention McCain sold his soul and all of his credibility when he picked up Palin as a running mate anyways. If he just stayed with another moderate republican instead of a batshit insane megaconservative he would've done a lot better.

Point still stands - uninformed Palin hater is uninformed. The fact that she would be so adamantly opposed to a woman for something she didn't even say is stupid, to say the least.

Two things. Yes, it was a dick move. Yes, it did happen after the campaign so it couldn't have impacted Azelma's decision on who to vote for.

I recall you using that analogy before on the realm forums. Give it up, please. It's overused and tired.

I'll stick around and watch Obama sink this ship. My point was for Azelma, though, who most likely voted for and supported a candidate that was for expanding off-shore drilling and, in fact, did expand off shore drilling. To retroactively use it as an argument against one person, while pretending the other didn't support it, is stupid and disingenuous. Also, I told her to become functionless because without oil, you would be functionless - I don't even know why she tried saying the "Drill Baby, Drill" slogan was stupid to begin with.

How is McCain dying any more of a serious prospect than Obama dying? Because McCain was a POW some 40-50 years ago? Pro tip: If being a POW didn't kill him, and if he survived almost half-a-century after being a POW, chances are he isn't going to die because he was a POW. Furthermore, Obama could die just as easily from some natural cause - happens all the time; Aneurysm, heart attack, etc. He could live another twenty years... or, you could be right and he might die tomorrow. Same with any president. Using McCain's age against him then predict he's going to die is stupid, Mayo.

Also, if Obama does die, you're going to have someone stupid running the country, so that argument isn't a very good one.

lol fair enough Tina Fey did say that, which is a hyperbole of what Sarah Palin actually said which was something along the lines of: "well, Russia is our Alaskin neighbors...and sometimes they fly their planes over our waters and we have to tell them to go back over to their waters" (im paraphrasing, it was in the interview. Basically, she has absolutely 0 foreign policy experience, and is therefore ignorant of it.

For the record, nowhere did I champion Obama in that post. As far as I'm concerned all politics are corrupt and it's merely a matter of choosing the lesser of two evils in any election (well you can vote green party but you know...lol).

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/02/campaign.wrap/

Obama was never crazy about offshore drilling. He has never switched his position on it. He has always taken the "proceed with extreme" caution stance, which is quite different from "drill baby, drill." Also, I think you're forgetting that he just recently put a halt on all new offshore drilling exploration for the time being, in light of the BP spill.

Quote from Obama back in 2008: ""What I will not do, and this has always been my position, is to support a plan that suggests this drilling is the answer to our energy problems," Obama added. "

Personally, that's how I feel. We need to be investing resources into alternative forms of energy, not doing everything we can to suck every last drop of oil from the earth. Disasters like this (still ongoing) BP oil spill just further prove that offshore drilling is not a long term solution.

Nice deflection. Doesn't change the fact that she didn't know what the fuck the Bush Doctrine was. Pretty important thing for a Vice President to know, I'd think.

Eturnalshift wrote:
I have a theory and you may fall in line with it: Unattractive and not-so successful women are jealous of Sarah Palin because she's attractive and successful...

1. I'm not a woman
2. I know plenty of attractive women who are successful who think that Sarah Palin has done more to hurt female progress because of her stupidity than she has ever done to help.
3. What does this have to do with anything? You are using a tactic i've seen many Palin supporters use "oh the liberal media is out to get her!" "oh poor Sarah...it's the mean ugly people who are envious of her perfect smile and outdoorsy charm!"

No, it's the fact that people see her for what she is, a politically uneducated former beauty queen who is simply serving as a mouthpiece for ignorant policies and conservative pundits (Tea Party movement...lol). The fact that she has failed so miserably in interviews shows that when it comes to tough questions that test her true knowledge and opinions of the issues, she is clueless. If she wasn't prepped with it before, or told what to say by her advisers, then she simply resorts to tried and true methods of dodging the question, or giving an moronic half-attempt at an answer.

Yes, McCain lost my vote because he chose that woman as a running mate. It was a political tactic to counteract the "Obama is black" thing, and a ploy to try to get former Hillary Clinton supporters to vote for him. It backfired. It shot a huge hole in the "Obama has no experience" argument (Palin had way less knowledge and experience than he did), and was a significant reason McCain got crushed in the election.

I think the Tea Party AND Mccain would've done much better had they not included Palin.

Sorry bro, I know you had a Fox-News inspired image of some fat lady with hairy armpits living in her parents basement, cashing welfare checks, all while hating the beautiful, wonderful Sarah Palin in your head.

In reality, I, like most sensible people, see her for what she is. An uneducated fraud. A pawn on the chessboard for conservatives everywhere.

Me being a lesbian would only help bolster his previous image of a liberal Palin basher.

Haters are always going to find reasons/excuses to hate the people they've convinced themselves they don't like. There's always going to be something they have to be negative about.

I still find it funny that she's still fairly popular and is on a lot of talk shows and what not.
