Guild loyalty hasn't been guild loyalty since the first server transfers.

I tend to stick with guilds I like to the bitter end.

You can if you choose the horse!

Copout

EDIT: Forget it, Tuhl said it best. It's like the Oculus "fix": increase the incentives rather than make the game more fun.

What is a cop out about it? You are a complete fucking retard if you think you can craft a perfect solution to a perceived problem in human social structure.

They are providing incentives, the incentives will more than likely have the desired effect on some non-negligible scale.

You seem to be judging success of the initiative on whether it has absolute effectiveness, and that's really, and I mean monstrously, stupid. Like, if you were in a sociology class I was teaching, I would fail you.

You're really dumb.

edit: Or was that a cop out? I await you responding with something that makes no sense while you misuse a multi-syllable word that you think makes you look smart.

lf9m kara.

I can easily say early TBC was the worst raiding time I experienced and yes, I do have all of the TBC attunements long before they removed them/nerfed them/removed the titles for them or whatever they did. The instances were so time consuming, un-fun, and not worthwhile to the point where the only reason to run them was kill Vashj and Kael for attunements to higher ilvl instances. Yeah, progression. So much fun. Not to mention that type of stupidity didn't even exist in vanilla.

Progression still exists, do you honestly think I would be a worthwhile contribution to a raid without running a couple weeks of instances?

What exactly is their desired effect?

I think with 10 and 25 man raids being identical, they want to keep big guilds around.

I was of the opinion that by making them identical, they were encouraging ten mans and squashing 25s.

Also...I pretty much just keep <Last Chance Rejects> around for people to park alts in. I'll let you know how many shinies it earns...but I will almost guarantee that all the shinies will be the result of my ten crappy characters.

I think that the whole progression curve is stunted now, but only due to end of expansion syndrome. Right now, the top has been established, and the layers are pretty much set in stone. The top guilds recruit off of eachother for the mostpart, while the less progressed guilds (mostly the 11/12 blob that exists right now) recruit off of eachother. The top isnt too terribly interested in that one level down, and the 11/12 group isnt too interested in those even lower, because they want people who have LK 25 attempts under their belt. The gear differential exists, and its probably going to stay that way for a few more months until atrophy hits. Then you get start of expansion syndrome.. where gear is going to be totally normalized, and guilds are going to be more willing to pick up "lower level" players who might show some promise in preparation for cata. But I think right now, the flow of players moving up to better guilds is stymed somewhat.

At this point in an expansion its almost impossible to really break into that top tier... its like "want to get into the top tier? make sure you're in the top tier before applying". I think the new raiding philosophy in cata is going to change this drastically, but I don't really see guild rewards contributing too much to that, unless they make some of them very, very difficult to get. Otherwise you'll just have a bunch of guilds with all the best guild achievements and it'll just be a big cloud of stupid up at the top.

Sorry for this longwinded shit but im at work and really bored, so I'm just typing. And my apologies if this comes off as being elitist. Wasn't intended to be that way, but it seems I often get taken thay way due to the guild tag attached to my name.

On a side note, who are you? Are you in TB or something?

Completely disagree. It's never been easier to move up the totem pole. So few players do so because the removal of real progression has stymied the development of skill and stratified the community.

Early TBC sucked because it was overtuned, and that was fixed in 2.1.
