But seriously, I never really understood the problem people have with little "incursions into their personal lives." It's not like they're cavity searching you. You have two options:
1. Backscatter. Contrary to popular belief, they can't actually see your naked self if they invert the image. I don't know if anyone's brought it up in this thread, but that article was a hoax on a German website.
2. Slightly more in-depth pat down. If you're paranoid about the scary cancer beams, then go with this one. And to refute the rape victim argument, they're NOT requiring you to get patted down. If someone touching your clam is a trigger, then you can use the imaging machine instead. And so what if they do a groin check? It's all part of your body just like your hands and legs are. Society's taboos on nonsexual touching shouldn't dictate whether or not you submit to something that can step up overall security.
Speaking of taboos, you're a hypocrite if you think that Muslims should be profiled as long as nobody has to touch your junk. Not being "PC" would imply that you don't care about societal taboos, but then you go into homophobia mode? It reminds me of people who in junior high would talk about how gigantic their dicks were to everyone, but would then change in stalls instead of the locker room for gym class.
And, if I remember correctly, your kids won't have to undergo the pat down procedure to the same degree that adults do. I remember hearing that the TSA is required to give them a conventional pat down instead.
My lack of concern for "privacy" may be due to growing up in the social networking generation, but I don't see the problem with sacrificing minimal amounts of privacy in order to be absolutely sure that you're not going to be a terrorist attack statistic.
PS: If you refuse to fly because of a weak, almost X-ray like machine, you're an idiot. I think I posted this in here last night (unless I logged out before posting it), but it's not really detrimental to your time. I've gone through the backscatter procedure three times this year in Florida, and you don't even notice the difference in the amount of time it takes to get through security.
