Skagit River Ranch is another great meat producer in our area, shouldn't be too hard to find someone who raises/slaughters like they do in yours.

Paddy, you're a sucker.

The poultry industry was HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE on the other side of the county where I grew up. It wasn't anything to sneeze at on the side I lived in, either.

A few years back, I don't know if anyone will recall, PETA released a video like this one about a company that provided for such places as KFC. As it happens, the plant they did their 'undercover' work at was in Moorefield, WV, near where I grew up. There was a big media buzz about it and a lot of people (probably rightfully) got fired.

You know what didn't make the national news about that, Paddy?

The person that instigated the shenanigans that were filmed was the same person that filmed it. That's right, the asshole in question set it up. It's still wrong that anyone would participate, but how fucking shady can you get? The documentarian in question wasn't seeing what he needed to make his point, so he egged people on to get them to do it.

Stop being a sucker. I don't know what PETA is all about, but I know if you're actually against animal cruelty, you don't encourage people to engage in it for public relations points.

Your Pal,
Jubber

PS--There's a great episode of Penn and Teller's Bullshit that outlines why you're an idiot for buying into anything PETA puts out.

Point well made. I do not know the entirety of the story either like you suggest and perhaps I am a sucker, but I don't support animal cruelty nor the encouragement of it... and if it was the case, the person filming this is just as wrong as the people doing it, which I hope wasn't the case here.

I'll read into Penn and Teller's Bullshit and see what it says.

While you're at it read into the pork industry, specifically the medicines they use, the legal state a pig has to be in to slaughter, and waste lagoons.

While you're at it you might want to look at the impact of our farming on the environment as well, it's easily the worst thing we're doing to the planet right now.

my favorite food involves force-feeding a goose until its liver is half the size of its body, then eating the liver.

My favorite shows involve lions pulling down prey and eating it while it is still alive.

Oh, can you direct me to the statement from Butterball saying that they're pro-cruelty?

No, I didn't, mainly because (just like this post), I don't read much of what you post.

I don't understand. Do you want to give him a gold star for trying?

You're free to decorate him in all of the stickers you want, but that doesn't excuse him of watching ONE youtube video and then going out on a crusade.

Actions speak for words where none exist to explain what is happening. The video describes it without the need of words. If these employees are still currently working for Butterball, and Butterball is aware of their employee actions, then the company either is in favor of animal cruelty or they are playing ignorant, in which in this case is worse.

Imagine for a second there was no voice associated with the video, but you still saw the video, my reaction would be the same. The words don't influence my decision. The actions they are doing do.

With regards to your latter comment, that just isn't fair. We have no further need to discuss this then between the both of us, as I feel you don't care and if that is the case, why bother replying to begin with?

At this point of the discussion, I am open minded about both my correct and incorrect statements and I want to learn more about companies that explain their slaughtering processes. Anyone with this information would be greatly appreciated in sharing this information. Also, I've learned a few new words from this discussion alone and love to keep learning new things so all of you have had some great points and some meek points but the sake of the discussion now, for me, has become one that has turned into learning more about slaughtering processes and seeing what sources anyone has that might be useful for me to check out.

What's wrong? He clearly doesn't give two shits, though I thought he had something intelligent to say at first.

I feel that if I am putting time towards a constructive conversation, you would hope the people joining it would make an effort to be philosophical about it, instead of pretending to have something cool to say when really they have nothing better to say than "No, I didn't, mainly because (just like this post), I don't read much of what you post."

So much for wanting diversity and more people to join this forum board. When you respond like this, you are nothing more than just a tool who has nothing better to do than to pretend you're awesome on some fuckin' message board. Seriously now?
