I know there was a SC2 thread somewhere but I lost it. I am currently rank 9 in the bronze league, and moving up quick. I have about a 75% win/loss ratio, BUT I fear I will get torn to shreds in the higher leagues if and when I get there. The reason? I cheese. A lot. And it has become a habit so hard to break that idk what to do. I mean, 5min wins? So tempting!

And if the cheese fails, I either:

1) Start going for void rays or
2) Lose because I have invested so much into the cheese that 4 marines are able to take me out.

HALP!

Void rays are the same cheese factor that people used to use with mass carriers. A skilled player can micro them down to the point of void rays being worthless.

Protoss ground has always been the way to go imo. With the onset of Colossus it makes it even more viable. 2-4 colossus, 8 zealots, 2 dts, the rest stalkers, 1 observer, 2-3 templar (more if zerg). Win win win

I am absolute shit in the late game unless I mass void rays. I hate carriers. I'll have 23 rays and a mothership. If that goes I go. It's like I have to win in the first push or I will lose like a buttface. What's a good build order for mass ground? And do I push or do I wait?

Depends on your style.
I wouldn't say there is a right or wrong answer.
A lot of this depends on your opponent.
You can control the whole game like that with a few well placed cannons around your nexus to keep our air pushes on your min. Then send out a z or two to mineral nodes to control the map. Control the view points since knowing an attack is coming before it gets there always wins the game.

I usually will go to a core before I start chrono boosting gateways.
Remember to Always Be Building. trying to keep zero minerals all the time is a very good thing, that means you are spending what you want.
Continuous upgrades for ground.
Get Z boost speed and blink for the stalkers.

You can probably test rush them at about 6 z's.
Then try 6 z's 4 stalkers.
Then 6 z's, 6 stalkers, 3 dt's
And just keep ramping up from there.

Keep in mind that this comes from someone who played SC and BW for probably 10 years continously, but only played SC2 online probably 100 games. 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3. I think I was in gold in each league.

Fuck that sounded arrogant. That's not how I meant that.
I meant that I really haven't played SCII as much as I used to play SC and BW. There are others that definitely more than I do about it and I would suggest taking advice from someone who has played more recently

An afterthought: Build order is never as important as what you can do with your units and the extent to which you can micro manage and control the battlefield. CTRL group everything with separate quick binds to individual power units like obs, templar, stalkers for blink, etc.

quad 614

I'm diamond and ill help you w/e you want and play games and tell you how bad you are and how you can stop sucking.

Most basic strategy is 4gate and i would highly reccomend doing this most of the time. It gets you to practice your macro well, pressure and micro. It is also good because once underway it is easy to branch off to any tech path whilst expanding and haveing a strong defensive force.

Basic build order is:

9pylon
12gate
16 pylon
16 core
around 24 save up and plant down 3 gateways, save your chrono for warpgate tech, and around 28 or so plant down a proxy pylon.

As soon as you can warp in guys at the proxy pylon and start attacking with a mix of stalkers and zels and sentries. If the battle doesnt look good, forcefield the ramp and run back to the pylon, warp in more and try one or two more times, if you didnt win run back expand and tech to your choice.

Once you master the 4gate you can try anything else pretty easil;y because it really teaches you the basics. Once mastering the 4gate it is easy to do a 3gate expand, which is relatively the same, or 3gate robo or 3gate blink stalkers and all that other good jazz.

Like i said, im free to help, just hit me up.

Sluggas and Tankbustas with Kommando Nob. Burna Bits and Nob Leader are must for Slugga Squads.

Sprinkle a couple Deff Dredds.

Or spam Deff Dredds with a couple Tank Bustas with the Mek Boy. And maybe a Weird Boy for shits and giggles.

Wait...

Wrong game.

I had to Google what "Cheese" meant in the context of Starcraft.

I just did the same. I have been trying to figure out what language most of this thread was written in. It is kind of like when my friend told me to get WoW and we could roll a toon and pwn noobs together. I asked him to please translate to english.

No one in higher leagues will let you get to the point that you have 23 voids.

I do, but then i have 3 bases, mass stalkers with full upgrades and about 12-14 warpgates with a proxy pylon ready to reinforce and own him.

Is most lulz.
